TV 101:
The world television was invented before television even existed. In 1970, scientists talking about the possibility of broadcasting images used the word, which comes from the Greek tele, meaning far, and the latin visio, meaning sight. The world telly was used by 1940, but TV was not used until about 1940, but TV was not used until about 1948. Slang words such as box and goggle box in the 1950s.
