NIGERIA suffered a major power cut on the first day of its World Cup campaign, according to local reports.

The power grid meltdown came on the same day the national team played Croatia in its first fixture.

The Super Eagles lost 2-0 on the day, but millions turned out to watch the game.

Local media reported a total collapse of “all the nation’s power plants.”

This thing is really bad. We've entered Thursday and the only power source we have available is our struggling generator. A lot of people have given up hope on power and sleep at night without electricity. For some strange reason the majority of Nigerians are still able to follow the World Cup.
