AS Monaco Star Thomas Lemar has signed for La Liga club Atletico Madrid.

The frenchman had been tipped with a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool keen to sign him.

However, Spanish Giant Atletico Madrid have signed the Highly-rated youngster.

Atletico announced on their website that Lemar has signed a contract deal.

However, the deal is pending a medical and finalising a formal agreement with Atletico.

Lemar almost joined the Premier League last summer, with Liverpool and Arsenal submitting late bids for the Ligue 1 Star.

However, he decided to stay in Ligue 1 with Monaco and reject a move to England.

Lemar has struggled to impress this season, with the playmaker scoring only three goals and providing eight assists in all competitions.

Atletico also officially announced Antoine Griezzman and Lucas Hernandez have singed new deals.

The pair have committed their future to the club until 2023 and 2024 respectively.

A Club official statement read:

Miguel ÁngelGilMarín flew this Monday to Istria, Russia, to sign the renovations of Antoine Griezmann and Lucas Hernández, as well as the agreement with Thomas Lemar .
The contract were signed in the concentration of the French Team following the guidelines set by the French Federation and the French coach, Didier Deschamps. Atléticode Madrid thanks both the Federation and the coach all the facilities and their collaboration.
