After the Super Eagles lost their opening game on Saturday to Croatia, the team have been under serious criticism due to their wayward performance, describe as many pundits as "Terrible".

Former Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho criticized the the coach for playing Mikel in the wrong position. He described Mikel as a terrible number 10.

The Manchester United manager stated this after the team lost to Croatia in their opening FIFA World Cup game.

Mourinho who signed Mikel to Chelsea in 2006 and converted him from an attacking midfielder to a defensive midfielder, added that Nigeria has lost a good defensive midfielder in the person of Mikel.

Speaking as a pundit on Russian TV station, RT, mourinho said,
"Nigeria lost a good No.6 to get a bad No.10."

Mikel has always been a defensive midfielder throughout his club career, but has always been given a more attacking role (which he has no idea about) whenever he played for Nigeria.

Jay Jay Okocha also criticized Gernot Rohr for his tactics and wrong choice of players position.
