Bayelsa State Governor, Honourable Seriake Dickson on Thursday, said his administration would continually collaborate with the security agencies particularly the Nigerian Army for the enthronement of peace, stability and development.

Governor Dickson made the assertion when the Nigerian Army, Course 2 of 2018, paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.

In a press statement by the Chief Secretary to the Governor, Honourable Dickson described peace as pivotal to the development and growth of any society, noting that, his administration, since its inception is anchored on security and development.

According to him, the state government is currently working with the Nigeria Army Corps to build a Forward Operations Base at Agge, in Ekeremor local government area to stabilize the western flank of the state.

Governor Dickson also stated that, the Nigerian Navy is working to support the establishment of functional naval base and outposts towards securing the maritime frontiers in the eastern and central senatorial districts.

He said, "This government is founded on security and stability and then development follows. Not only are building schools, roads connecting our communities, model health care facilities but we are first of all, working with all institutions to establish security that has enabled security to thrive.

"Our dream for Bayelsa is to make it the safest state so that people can come here for tourism and enjoy the beauty of our state.

Governor Dickson urged the Course 2 participants to provide a feedback on the findings and recommendations of their study tour to enable the state government strategize on its development initiatives.

Commending the security personnel for their gallant efforts in safeguarding the nation's territorial integrity, Governor Dickson particularly lauded one of the participants who is a son of the state, General Charles Nengite for his outstanding performance in the Army.

The Governor said a date would be set aside in the near future to honour him as a worthy ambassador of the state whose contributions would serve as a role to young people.

Speaking earlier, the Commandant, War College, Jaji, Kaduna State, Major-General Eneche John-Eneche, said the Course 2 participants are on a study tour of the state, which comprises Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Navy.

He noted that they are the operational commanders in their various units being projected for the future.

Major-General John-Eneche, who stressed that the Armed Forces, prioritizes issues of security in Bayelsa, said this informed the decision for the Course 2 participants to embark on a study tour of the state and review Operation Delta Safe handling of security and make recommendations.

He further explained that the Nigerian Army needed to be dynamic as the world, crime and other challenges facing man were becoming dynamic.
