Super Eagles stars representing Nigeria at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia have joined millions of their compatriots to express their sympathies to the victims of the recent attacks in Plateau state which has reportedly claimed over 100 lives.

Leon Balogun also paid his respect to the victims, with a candlelight background image, with an inscription of “Plateau” saying “#UnitedWeStandDividedWeFall”.

The country’s happy mood resulting from the Super Eagles 2-0 World Cup victory against Iceland on Friday was marred by the gory images of the Plateau Massacre that flooded social media during the weekend.

Some football lovers in the country have called on the Super Eagles to wear black arm-bands as a mark of honour for the citizens who lost their lives during the massacre when they play Argentina in an all-important group D decider on Tuesday.
