Chelsea are close to signing Italy international Daniele Rugani for a fee of £35m pounds, reports say. Chelsea's transfer business has been difficult and sluggish due to speculations surrounding Antonio conte's future, and Chelsea hope to resolve it quickly as he is expected to leave before the World Cup ends so Maurizio sarri would take over.

Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport say Rugani has essentially accepted an offer from Chelsea, who are still finalising the details of the move with Juventus

The Blues may still have to wait until Conte is sacked to get the deal over the line, however, as it is claimed Chelsea-bound Sarri requested the move for Rugani. Rugani, who has seven caps for Italy, has impressed since signing for Juventus in 2013, winning three Serie A titles. Sarri worked with the 23-year-old briefly at Empoli and is said to believe he can develop into a world-class centre-back

On Thursday, Rugani’s agent responded to Chelsea’s interest in his client by saying: ‘It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first. ‘After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.’
