Aba Born Consultant, Petroleum Engineer and Abia South Senatorial Aspirant, Mr. Chinedu Onyeizu has outlined measures which can be taken to avert a repetition of the Lagos Tanker Fire.

Below are his exact words:

"The inferno that consumed innocent lives of Nigerians on the 28th of June, 2018 from ignited fuel truck is unacceptable! and avoidable! learning from this experience can inform reforms and policy changes that should follow immediately.

"I don’t want to politicize this incident but going forward, I will strongly recommend that

"Firstly, Trucks conveying fuel be monitored and tracked real time, attributes of the driver and conveying company should be captured in a central database system to enable quality post incident analysis of the root causes .

"Secondly, Trucks conveying inflammable content should be escorted by special vehicles to ensure traffic is controlled at sharp corners or compromising spots on our roads.

"I believe If bank notes are escorted to destination banks , inflammable and hazardous liquids should also be escorted at the expense of the company that is conveying the products.

"It’s sad but may God almighty continue to give strength to the families that lost their beloved ones. Amen!!!
