What is diabetes mellitus?
Diabetes mellitus is a nutritional disorders, characterized by abnormally elevated level of blood glucose and by the excretion of the excessive glucose in the urine. It results from absolutely or relatively lack of insulin, which leads to abnormality in carbohydrate metabolism as well as in the metabolism of protein and fat.

Diabetes is a disease known by medical professional since time immemorial. It is a common disease which affect almost millions of people every year. But with this tutorial, I will extensively discuss its symptoms, types  and the best recommended treatments.

The bad news about diabetes is this: is much more rampant in this present age than in the past. This is true in case of more advance countries of the world dues to widespread affluence and more generous food supply. Also due to more consumption of industrial refined products than natural fruits.

Ways to test diabetes level
The most commonly used screening test of diabetes are the determination of fasting sugar content is 80 to 120 mg. per 100 ml. of blood which can go up to a level of 180 mg.per 100 ml. of blood two hours after a meal.
Anything above this measurement can be termed as diabetes mellitus.

The age-bracket which diabetes affect most
Emphatically, diabetes occur in all ages. From young, infant to the old . But the greatest incidence of diabetes occur in the middle or older age person. It is estimated that over 80 to 85 % of people with diabetes mellitus are over 45 years of age or older.

After my explanation of diabetes mellitus and who diabetes affect most, base on age bracket. Let's have a brief study of types of diabetes.

In this ongoing tutorial, I will focus on three types of diabetes base on research by medical doctors.

Three types of diabetes

1. Type 1 diabetes
This type of diabetes occur when the beta cell of the pancreas is being attacked and killed by the immune system. At that period no insulin or very little insulin is release in the body. Therefore,  type 1 diabetes occurs  as a result of lack of insulin or little insulin in the body, sugar build up in the body instead of being used by the body as energy. Statistically, about 10% of diabetes mellitus patient suffer from diabetes type 1. Studies has shown that type 1 diabetes usually developed at childhood, adolescence or adulthood sometimes.

The best method to treat type 1 diabetes is with insulin. Another recommended way is by strategically spacing and planning meals to keep regulating the sugar level.

2.Type 2 diabetes
This occur when the body was unable to use the insulin being released by the body. This insulin is known as insulin sensitivity. As a result of this,  sugar build-up in the body instead of being  used as energy. Types two diabetes is the most common diabetes. About 90% diabetic patients suffer   with  type 2 diabetes.
