Nigeria is not matured enough for state policing. This is simply an invitation to anarchy and states will experience one party system for decades to come.

CSTR1005:

Then that is a stupid policy.

What happens when the FG police intefers with state policing?
Who wins?

Take police off federal government control completely and give the money to states to fund their police.

The federal capital territory is the only place that should have federal policing.

The NSCDC can remain under federal government control to mimic the National Guard of the United States of America.

It is not stupid. In most countries, especially civilized ones, you have the federal & state police existing side by side. In the US for instance, you even have county/city police existing with the state and federal police.
They all have their respective roles and hardly encroach on each other's roles.

If this is what will bring an end to incessant and senseless killings across the country, then so be it!

Are you not ashamed to hear regular news of hundreds of people being massacred in Nigeria on a single day due to issues of ethnic clashes?
Even countries like Somalia, Afghanistan & Syria that are war torn and unstable hardly experience such terrible killings on a single day, but it has become a normal every day occurrence in Nigeria.

U don't understand.
The governors will tell us "No money" bail out etc.
Can u ans the other part of my question @state of origin?

They don't have option than to be prudent. Nobody jokes with his/her own security especially when it is his/her direct responsibility.

State of origin part is simple. Every police officer shall be transferred to his state except those under federal police. This is state police so basically the bulk of police officers should come from the state for effective policing.

though I condemn this bill due to the immaturity of our politicians who are to be in command of the state police as governors in their various states, the bill will hardly come into fruition because the core northern states' house of assembly will overwhelmingly vote down the bill. the northern states will be threatened by equipping some group of people with guns in the name of state police to perpetuate secession.

Don't hide under 'Northern state house of assembly' bla bla to express your fear. Be man enough to say how you feel. Upon all the security problems facing the country, all your fear is about a group of people whose lives do not affect you in any way. Please cure yourself of paranoia and insecurity. It is written all over your write up.

My state is matured enough for state police. If your state is still in stone age that's your problem. You can't hold me down because you have refused to grow up.

Okay.
In a nut shell the exercise is not gonna be easy.
Some northern States has more number of indigenes in police than others. What is the FG gonna use as criteria for selecting from the pool as Federal police. Another questions is will FG criteria reflect federal character
