Instead of bickering back and forth about what happened on the night I think I would have been better to pass a motion for the the total reformation of the arms policy of the Nigerian police by stopping the arbitary issuance of very powerful assault rifles as the primary weapon of the police, the situation which we have now where any policeman is just issued an AK47 rifle to carry simple civil police duties like crowd control, traffic control , vehicle registration checks is very wrong and must be stopped ...The police must have a special weapons and tactics unit who shall be the sole bearers of power weapons and be called out only when there is a threat that requires the use of such powerful tactical weapons . Every other police man depending on rank and duty should be issued just 500 volt taser , baton and .38 pistol as side arm if necessary ...the situation where even chronic alcoholics and drug addicts some already suffering from terminal illnesses and even mental illness are issued Ak47 assault rifles to carry out simple civic police duties cannot continue and should not be entertained any further...an assault rifle is not called an assault rifle for nothing As the name implies it's for assaulting a target and not policing .

They have to get rid of the AK47s in the hands of criminals.

they should scrape off this nysc and create a one year vocational training for graduates instead.

two died in bayelsa days ago. another drowned in same bayelsa. weeks ago, one was gang raped in same bayelsa

this nysc is a waste of one full productive year of our youths, some lose their lives and others lives change for the worse after staying in a strange land for 12 months
Seconded and fully supported.

Good thing the Senate is taking a peep at this but that's all it is... A peep. In the end the matter will swept under the rug same as the Apo Six killings (how many ppl even remember that anymore?)

All over social media there thousands of reports and numerous videos depicting gross police brutality. What's been done? NOTHING! Even the SARS assassins who killed 2 defenceless men have been freed after a little "police tribunal".

I feel for the lady though but this Senate issue is simply a facade. Nothing will come out of it. After all, no be aboki dem shoot.

Next level.
