These gentlemen and their cohorts smuggled 391 projects into the 2018 budget so they can get their hands on slush funds. They must think they're real sleek and won't get found out. Isn't it a great job President Buhari exposed them? The thing is, why did OBJ, late Yar'adua and uncle Jonathan cover them up? It's baffling the kind of horse-trading and lobbying they do in the NASS while screwing the generality of Nigerians Alejoc: 1 Like 1 Share |

Didn't US Congress smuggle more than a quarter of a trillion dollar into US burget/bill that President Trump grumbled to sign recently? The Legislature has the power of the purse in presidential system of government hence citizens should be educated on this. 4 Likes |

One thing am certain about this administration is the fight against corruption. Very certain that they wouldn't go Scot free if actually found guilty. 1 Like 1 Share |

Should the fraud continue because it's been done since 1999? Should funds be disappearing in the name of fictitious projects so senators could line their own pockets? crispus09: |

blackgig: Hours after veto threat, Trump signs spending bill, avoiding government shutdown President Trump again called for a line-item veto of budget bills, even though the Supreme Court has declared that tool unconstitutional. Trump also balked at the overall $1.3 trillion price tag of the bill — "the number is so large; it'll start coming down" — but said "we had no choice but to fund our military." He also vowed to keep pushing for money for his border wall. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/452273002 |

Nothing is biggy here, budget is just a plan, FG should stick to its plans as approved by the budget and ignore and padding. I don't know why there is much noise on this |

psychalade: Yes. Democrats inserted many unwanted expenses to take care of their political constituencies as part of the bargain with their colleagues in the Republican party for their support to ensure they voted for it. In Democracy, you lobby, it is not corruption |

Yes I agree that this is the general practice but the difference with the projects our lawmakers insert is that they never impact the constituents eventually. The quality of the projects says it all. Buying motorcycles and keke up and down, which will be distributed to a few people within their party circles and they make a show of it on TV then pocket the rest. In the US you actually see projects that add value to the individual communities where the lawmakers represent. LadyExcellency: |

Na wetin we dey talk be dat o. There's nowhere Trump complained on his Senate removing his projects for their own. He only balked at their refusal to fund his wall. He didn't complain of them chopping and screwing his budget psychalade: |

The argument wasn't for whether they could make adjustments, did they substitute major projects for buying bikes and sewing machines? Lobbying isn't the main bane, did the American senate masticate its President's appropriation to fund their own projects? Our Senate outright committed fraud in the name of constituency projects and they got exposed big time. LadyExcellency: |

Okonsyourguy: Same with US, they substituted the money for the boarder wall with their political constituencies needs including child support programs jacking it to more than a trillion dollar expenditure Whatever, the Legislatures passed as budget is legal and can only be questioned by the voters by voting them out |
