Herdsmen Killings: Asemota Blast Presidency Over Statement On Herdsmen Killings. by davo80(m): 6:05pm On Jul 05, 2018
Herdsmen killings: Asemota blast presidency over statement on Herdsmen killings.

Popular Lagos based Architect and public affair analyst Arc. Asemota O Asemota, has said "Mr Femi Adesina has clearly shown that the government of the day are sympathetic to the Fulani herdsmen causing these carnages round the country, while they have also come out to show solidarity for the land grabbers", after the Nigerian Presidency, through presidential spokesman Femi Adesina, when he spoke on an AIT morning programme. Responding to a question on ancestral attachments to land which would be very difficult to give up to herdsmen for ranching, Adesina said “Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment,if you are dead, how does the attachment matter? He also said "Being alive is better than ancestral attachment to land".

This was contained in a statement released on Thursday and signed by his media aide, Itseore David Benjamin.

"I was shocked that such utterances came out from a man with such a high ranking office. I wondered for a while if Mr Femi Adesina is actually unprofessional or he was Simply being mischievous".
"To worsen the case, this statement came in on the back drop of the backlashes he got for comparing the scores of death under the previous administrations to that of the present administration as though the sanctity of life means nothing to Nigerians anymore". He added.
Mr Asemota also said "In clear terms, what Mr Femi Adesina said was Surrender your ancestral lands or continue dying. This statement is most unfortunate, and to think it is coming from a presidential spokesman who has spent a better part of his appointment years trying to prove and convince a vast majority of the masses that the Buhari led administration is not a bigoted one is even more regrettable".
He went on to say "I therefore lend my voice to the millions of voices already raised,in condemning in the strongest possible terms this statement attributed to the presidency. It is barbaric, wicked, bigoted, tyrannical, dictatorial and to say the least, it is capable of further worsening the wounds of discord, and the feelings of marginalization currently being sang in the country".

"I therefore urge Mr Femi Adesina, and the entire presidency to tender an unreserved apology to the generality of Nigerians for insulting our collective sensibilities, and for adding salt to the injuries of those whom these land grabbers in the form of herdsmen have inflicted everlasting scarce upon, stating clearly that such utterances will never repeat itself again".
"Also, in a search for redemption, the presidency should do all it takes to make sure all the lands that have been forcefully coerced from anybody by this land grabbers is swiftly returned to the rightful owners, and the offenders made to face the full wrath of the law". He said.
