POLICE ARREST LEADER OF GANG FOR KIDNAPPING FOUR-YEAR-OLD IN LAGOS
The anti-kidnapping unit of the Lagos State police command in Panti has made a breakthrough into the abduction of a four-year-old girl, Goodness ldzanaka Chukwu, from Latter Rain Church in Ogba, Lagos.

A suspected ringleader, Christopher Njoku, has been arrested. He has since been taken before Chief Magistrate Kikelomo Ayeye of Yaba Magistrate Court for a remand order.

Chief Magistrate Ayeye then ordered that the suspect be remanded in the police station for the next three weeks to enable him assist the investigators in the arrest of other fleeing members and possibly rescue the little girl.

AGAIN, THREE FEARED KILLED BY SUSPECTED HERDERS IN BENUE
Three persons were yesterday feared killed in an early morning attack on Tiza Village, in Tombo Ward of Logo council area of Benue State by suspected herdsmen.

It was gathered from local sources that the attackers stormed the settlement at about 8:30 a.m. and laid an ambush for the unsuspecting farmers who were on their way to farm.

The sources said the invaders, on sighting the indigenes, opened fire on them, killing three on the spot while a good number of others sustained various degrees of injury.

FORMER EDUCATION SEC BAGS FIVE YEARS IN JAIL FOR EMPLOYING TEENAGE DAUGHTER
A Delta State High Court, sitting in Ozoro, has sentenced a former Education Secretary of Bomadi Local Government Education Authority, Abayomi Tom Kelekumor, to five years imprisonment for employing his daughter, Miss Preye Tom, into the service of the Local Government Education Authority.

According to a News release on the ICPC website on Friday, Kelekumor, who was sentenced by Justice BrikiOkolosi, without an option of fine, was accused by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission of violating Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, by using his position to confer unfair advantage upon his relation. The offence is also punishable under the same section.

The Commission, in a charge, said that the convict gave employment to his daughter, who was then a Senior Secondary Two student, into the local government service, knowing fully well that she was at the same time a full-time student.

TRAILER KILLS MAN, DESTROYS MOTORCYCLE IN EKITI
A heavy-duty vehicle on Thursday lost control in Ado Ekiti and killed one Pa Ajayi Fatoba, a passer-by in Okeyimi area of the state capital

The accident, which occurred in the morning, threw residents into mourning, PUNCH reports.

It was learnt that the vehicle carrying a sticker of Ife Oluwa Tippers Association was coming from Okeila area of the town when the driver, Akintunde Idowu, lost control and crossed to the other side of the road.

HERDSMEN MURDER FIVE IN ADAMAWA
A dusk attack by herdsmen armed with locally-made guns on Kola community in Guyuk Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Wednesday left five persons dead.

According to PUNCH, the Adamawa State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the attacks, which occurred around Mararaba Kola in Guyuk.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa Police Command, Superintendent Othman Abubakar, said the First Information Report from the Divisional Police Headquarters stationed in Guyuk, revealed that some herdsmen with locally-made guns attacked and burnt seven houses in Kola.
