Samsung today launched its new mobile phone manufacturing facility in India. The facility which officially becomes the World’s Largest Mobile Phone Factory is located in Noida, Uttar Pradesh India. The new facility is to help Samsung boost its smartphones capacity in Noida, from 68 million units a year to 120 million units a year.

In a tweet from Samsung India, the company wrote;

THE HONORABLE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA, SHRI @NARENDRAMODI, AND THE HONORABLE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA, @MOONRIVER365, JOINTLY INAUGURATING THE SAMSUNG INDIA’S NEW PRODUCTION UNIT AT NOIDA – THE WORLD’S LARGEST MOBILE FACTORY! #MAKEFORTHEWORLD #MAKEFORINDIA

The new plant is not only meant to increase production capacity, but also fulfill the company’s goal of making India an export hub for the world. In a statement Samsung said that 30% of its production from the unit will be exported.

Chief Executive Officer, Samsung India, during the launch said;

SAMSUNG IS A LONG-TERM PARTNER OF INDIA. WE ‘MAKE IN INDIA’, ‘MAKE FOR INDIA’ AND NOW, WE WILL ‘MAKE FOR THE WORLD’. WE ALIGNED WITH GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND WILL CONTINUE TO SEEK THEIR SUPPORT TO ACHIEVE OUR DREAM OF MAKING INDIA A GLOBAL EXPORT HUB FOR MOBILE PHONES.

The company already has two factories in Noida and Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, five R& centers and one design center. These are supported by a strong network of over 1.5 lakh retail outlets and 3,000 customer service points, the largest by any company in the country. All Samsung mobile phones, including the flagship Galaxy S9, S9+ and Galaxy Note8, are made at the Noida plant.
