Wow! Happy to know that. Could you expatiate on what the pay is like there, and the job description?

Well I would say it depends on the company you work for, I work with a Nigerian bank IT department specifically. And I didn’t apply to be a data scientist/analyst I was just lucky to be posted to a department that requires data science basic knowledge. So I had to start learning on the job and also on my own. I can’t say much about the pay cos I receive the same pay with other colleagues in the other department depending on the level. But I’m aspiring to be a freelancer in the field real soon, I don’t intend to be confined in just one place.

This is indeed a masterpiece.A vast majority of our youths need to be guided properly when making career choices. Data Science /Analysis is of high demand both locally and internationally, if only one can patiently and consisitenly master the skill.

Thanks for a very useful information in your post. I honestly think that all statements are way to general and don't provide a precise information for a person who wants to build a career in this sphere.
First of all, it all starts from understanding and testing of your potential chances. SQL is the second largest and popular programming language in the industry.

It is also important to understand that there are different branches and subdivision of the language itself.
In my opinion it is also important to understand and determine your future profession. Here are some popular variants:

Product/Program Managers. People who hold these positions always work with big volumes of information. To understand the company’s data model and control the workflow, this information should be analyzed and structured. SQL is the best tool to do this.
Data Analysts. The word “data” in this job title speaks for itself – it is hardly possible to “speak” with relational databases without knowing their language.
Data Scientists. These are masters in data collection, analysis, and management. Do they need SQL skills? Definitely yes.
Marketers. To keep in touch with the market needs, you should possess various data. It’s not a good option to request information from programmers and wait for ages to get it. Basic SQL skills will make this process much easier.

There is even more useful information which I found on http://blog.qatestlab.com/2019/02/26/basics-sql-non-programmers/. The reason why I love this article - it shows real life examples and requirement for a particular sphere os work. It will be extremely useful to read for every beginner!
