Some “bad eggs” in the Ghanaian police are using their priviledged position to extort huge sums of money from young Nigerians under the guise of their having insufficient document or expired passport. Can you imagine this in a country who strongly supports Ecowas principle of freedom of movement and trade.

The harassment is becoming more alarming,that most Nigerians have fled Kasoa in the central region of Ghana,Teshie Nungua to other parts of the country. Some of have been forcibly deported after their properties have been consificated for personal use by some of these unscrupulous officers.

They even go to the extent of stopping taxis and forcing Nigerians to come down once they are identified, to extort money from them.There is no where in Nigeria where Ghanaians resident in Nigeria are being treated this way.Even , this is not acceptable in the united states and united kingdom.

The Nigerian high commision in Ghana cannot claim ignorance to what is going on, since they had to intervene in several cases in recent times.
We are calling on the inspector general of police in Ghana to investigate these areas. We also plead with the ministry of foreign affairs to liase with the Nigerian High commision to ensure that Nigerians are not unjustly persecuted in Ghana since every Ghanaian goes about their businesses freely in Nigeria without harassment.

We encourage Nigerians to always be law abiding in the country and have relevant ecowas document to protect them from this corrupt police officers. Let these officers be exposed. This is an opportunity for Annas to go underground and investigate their activities.

Any unjustly treated Nigerian should cry out for justice. They should cry out and stop dying in silence.
