African print fabric is delicate and need proper care to avoid losing it luster. Ankara is an amazing fabric, however it requires a lot of care and attention so that the beautiful colors will not fade.

Do not wash with hot water
Hot water can shrink, fade and damage your Ankara fabrics. Neither use hot nor cold water from the cold room to wash your Ankara rather use ordinary water direct from the tap.

Do not wash with washing machine
It is advised not to wash with washing machine and if you must use washing machine to wash your Ankara, wash in cold water, turn off spin cycle on your washer and turn your Ankara fabrics inside out.
Do not wash with detergent

Avoid washing your Ankara with detergent, detergent is abrasive to your Ankara fabric rather use bar soap or laundry bar soap which is mild on your Ankara fabric.

Do not wash every time you wear
Unlike other fabrics that get easily dirty, Ankara fabrics are not to be wash on every wear. You can just spread out your Ankara fabric after use under a cool spot to dry out the sweat.

Avoid leaving out in the sun for long
Ankara fabric should not be leave out in the sun for long. Too much exposure of the Ankara fabric to the sun can make it fade and loose it color.

Avoid bleach
Do not use bleach for your Ankara but you can use soda. Bleach is known for its abrasive properties.
