Conte angered the Blues' board with his handling of the Diego Costa situation last summer and the relationship between Conte and his superiors broke down beyond repair over the club’s transfer policy.

The two parties have since been locked in a dispute over his dismissal, with Conte holding out for a £9million lump sum and refusing to resign.
