Ahead of the Ekiti gubernatorial election slated to take place tomorrow 14th July, 2018 The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain its independence in ensuring that all votes count and are counted as it prepares to conduct the election. Newly elected president of the Association, Comrade Obande Gideon Obande also cautioned all concerned bodies to allow the people elect whom they want at helms of affairs.

Comrade Obande in the same statement, appealed to the Nigerian Police Force to be highly professional in discharging their affairs and not fall to the antics of politicians in other to avoid rancour during the voting process, he stated that the people will massively resist any attempt to rig the election or impose any candidate on them as that may lead to casualties. He continued by urging the people to come out en masse and vote their choice candidate.

The student leader urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that all vote counts, he opined that the election should be one man one vote. Obande remark that the Ekiti poll will foretell how prepared INEC is in handling the 2019 general election in the president Muhammad Buhari led era.

"While we are advocating for a peaceful process of the poll we encouraged our law abiding students and youth groups to go out en masse and exercise their franchise without fear of intimidation" he added, Comrade Obande urged his immediate constituents to resist been used by anyone to rig elections.

Finally, he encouraged international and local observers to keenly observe all the processes and ensure that election results is transparent, free, fair and credible.
