The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Edgal Imohimi, yesterday gave a stern warning to policemen attached to divisions in the state to desist from wearing mufti bearing ‘SARS’ (Special Anti-Robbery Squad) while carrying out official duties. He threatened to sanction any policeman who violates the directive.

To march his words with action, Edgal said the two policemen, who allegedly assaulted a lawyer last week in Ikoyi area of Lagos, would be demoted in ranks, for wearing plain clothes to effect the arrest of the legal practitioner.

Egdal gave the warning at the third Stakeholders Security Meeting on Community Policing organised by the Area ‘D’ Command, Mushin, with the theme ‘Policing the community by the community’. He, however, said only certain policemen would be allowed to wear jackets with the inscriptions of their units on them.

Those idiotsss are not complying. Go to ikeja along right now on Ur way to computer village u will see a white hilux with inscription: The Nigerian Police, Metro Patrol. It is filled with about 5 Officers wearing Mufty and a jacket with FSARS written on it.

Do we now say those ones are not aware of this new directive?

littlewonders:
What happened to the "banned in road blocks?"
What happened to bail is free?
What happened to the law of searching of citizens phones?
What happened to extortion on roadblocks?
What happened to contineous harrassment of citizens?
I can go on and on...

We only make laws on media, enforce the laws on media, struggle to tell us how they are working tirelessly with mere words. The truth still remains, Nothing works. Nigeria is a country without actions. More schools are opening for us to learn how to complain and make media-speaking and law making a project, and that ends the story.

If we want to stop this; let's do what is in "YOU" mind(you know better)

I weep

This summarises the confusion. He, however, said only certain policemen would be allowed to wear jackets with the inscriptions of their units on them.

How do we identify the certain policemen? They would wear a tag with "CERTAIN" written on it? Sounds like the I belong to everybody and nobody statement.

How about carrying assault rifles whilst wearing mufti, or looking like rebels? Went to a bank and saw a policeman decked in native attire casually lugging his AK as he strolled within the premises. How he expects to react in an emergency without hindrance from his village people is beyond me.
