Your car is a precious property and money spent on maintaining your car is worth thinking due to the fact that not only it gives you more comfort and less worry on the roads but also it may cost you a fortune if not receive proper maintenance. Let’s check out our list of 7 most common and most expensive mistakes to avoid in car maintenance practice. 1. Not Checking The Tyres Regularly Checking tyre pressure doesn't simply mean to check if there's any flat tyre but it's also to optimize the fuel economy for your car ( If your tyres are not in sufficient air supply, the engine has to consume more gas to power the car ). Also make sure to do tyre rotation when needed. All are in the manual the car maker provides. For Hyundai I10, the recommended tyre gauge written at the down path of the drivers side door. Always gauge your tyres NOT above the recommended gauge. 2. Not Changing Engine Oil Regularly Bad oil resulting from being in long use can damage car's engine. Don't ever skip your oil change longer than 5,000 kilometer. Always have a good habit of changing engine oil 3. Neglecting The Brake System The brake pads are one of the important component in a vehicle. Neglecting the brake system is very dangerous and risky to not only your life but the lives of other road users. When there comes the squeaking noise, you should check your brakes as soon as possible. 4. Using Old Windshield Wipers It doesn't cost much time and money to change windshield wipers but lots of drivers still persistently use their old ones. This may not provide clear vision in bad weather. Cracks in the blades and streaks on the windshield are signs your wipers have gone bad. It's important, especially in rainy season, to keep your wiper in perfect condition to avoid bad visual and cracked windscreen. 5. Ignoring Changing Of Fuel Or Air Filters Changing fuel or air filters are evasy. It doesn't need a mechanic to do. Or you can ask your auto mechanic to check for you during servicing of your car. 6. Ignoring Fluid Checking Fluid change is just as important as oil change to ensure your car 's engine works well. Don't ignore fluid change including transmission fluid, brake fluid, coolant and all the other fluids. 7. Not Spending Time To Learn Yes! Not spending time on easy things you can learn. Sometimes drivers are too lazy to learn something easy. They depend on mechanics for everything. In fact, by implication, all drivers should be mechanics. Be dedicated to learn from mechanics while putting together things for you in your car liking changing of flat tyres and so on. raph101: True talk but in order to avoid fake wipers one has to buy from authorized marketers or distributors rather than all these road-side or traffic-light stand sellers. |
