The Nigeria police (killer) shot your daughter and she was rushed to a hospital (saver) Who tried to save her. Now the family is petitioning the police (killers) to prosecute the hospital (savers). It is alwz easier to blame your fellow oppressed than the oppressor. We see it everyday in Nigerian politics. A single lady partying till 3am with her single sister too. I know whom I would blame if it was me.

The bullet didn't break her rib. But the rubber pipe did. I never knew rubber could break bones.

If delay was the cause of her death, why is it that only the hospital was blamed for that? How long did it take after the shooting for those with her to get over the confusion and even think of taking her to the hospital? Or is the hospital right beside the scene of the shooting?

The hospital's video evidence clearly showed that the lady was promptly attended to. But unfortunately we always find someone to blame for anything that happens. If the family wants someone to blame at all cost, I think they should question why their daughter was out at around 3am and why they didn't stop when instructed to by the policeman.

The devil's advocate, weldone Sire!

I've stopped throwing insults around here, if I still did, I'm certain I would have really gone all out on you. And every other person that liked this senseless comment of yours deserve to be examined. I don't get it, so being out at about 3:00 am is now wrong? So we should blame an adult for being out at about 3:00 am?! Are you kidding me?

Which hospital video evidence? The one that didn't show what was going on the room where she was kept? Or you didn't read the part where it said she was brought in five minutes after the shooting happened?

You just want to blame the innocent girl at all cost, don't you?!

Pocohantas, come and carry your cousin before I lose all my home training!

We are our problem in this country, until we speak the truth always without fear or favour, this country won't move forward.
The CCTV only showed her being wheeled into the theatre, how can a sane person claim that being wheeled into the theatre is same thing as treatment commenced immediately.
The family and the police stated that treatment was refused for more than 45minutes until deposit was made in CASH.
Even when the treatment commenced they did the wrong thing, cause they were more concerned about money than life.
Same fate will be meted on those applauding the Garki Hospital.

“Based on the autopsy, the bullet was not supposed to kill her. In fact, all her organs were intact. Even her lung that was brushed by the bullet was not shattered. It was the blood that was clotting from the bullet injury that killed her.

I am sorry, but this does not mean anything.

1.That organs were intact does not mean that the bullet did not hit anything.

2.The bullet did hit something...how does the lady explain the bleeding.?

3.A bullet can miss various organs, and hit a major blood vessel....which is what happened...and (I have not seen the autopsy report, but I am sure that is what happened)...a major vessel was hit...leading to bleeding....leading to death

4.Blood clotting...is actually a means by which the body stops bleeding. Not a means by which someone can die.

5.The pipe inserted was i THINK...put in there to releive bleeding into the pleural space surrounding the lung...which means that there was some bleeding there caused by the bullet.

6.I wonder why we are not seeing the ACTUAL autopsy report...instead of hearing the family's interpretation of the report.

7.Anyway...let investigations continue. If wrong was done, let it be punished. If nothing worng was done...then let villificaiton be stopped.

MartinCorridon:
They should report to the Medical & Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) disciplinary tribunal and sue for negligence/ medical malpractice.

The tribunal has the requisite professionals to determine if the hospital erred or not.

This is hardly a police case. What knowledge does the Police have to determine culpability in this case.

As a layman, i think the hospital was unjustly vilified.

The inital claim was that the hospital didn't attend to the victim before the hospital released CCTV to exonerate itself

Iam wondering which if the garki hospitals. We have garki specialist and garki general..

If it's specialist I hope the family deals with them. I personally woke up 3ce during an operation the injection to keep me under sleep was not kept in right temperature.. I can go on to recount other people experiences in that hospital

leave the late daughter out of it. She was an adult and there was no curfew in Abuja at the time of the shooting.

Good points, excpet for that 'she was out at 3 pm'.

Personally, as a rule, I always try to be home by 7pm latest, but there are times in my life, (and not due to party, the latest I have come from a party is 10pm)...I have been late...sometimes as late as 1.30 am (and was even stopped at a police checkpoint then!).

There is nothing wrong with having some fun late in the night. Of course....one must be secuirty conscious(here I will agree with you somewhat about her being late)...BUT....she did not deserve to die because of that.

Personally, I think we need to look at the way we train our police again. Plus...there are methods a policeman can stop a car at night...or maybe even note the car number and do something...like the UK's points system for car licencees (enough points suspension of licence)...but that involves good records systems, plus good facilities too.

The same mindset that has allowed a lot of crime and murderers go unpunished. When there are appropriate consequences for people's actions and inactions, they will strive to do the right things at all times.

Blame the Nigerian system.!
Why is a police report required before hospitals can treat gunshot victims?
We have a cash based system.Hospitals will ask for deposit(and rightly so) unless we have a health insurance that works.Hospitals should however have a humane disposition towards emergency cases.

The statement about a pipe breaking the rib though. How did that happen?

May be the hospital used conduit pipe.

Asking the killers to go after the people who didn't treat out of fear of what the killers might do. This country is cursed.

I blame the girl for keeping that late in a area that has security treats.
I blame the driver of the car who refused to stop .
I blame the daft police for not aiming at the tire of the car even if he suspects something fishy
I blame the hospital for not attending to her properly.
Nigerian police and Nigerian hospitals are the same thing.
Money comes first before any other thing and besides our nurses are naturally wicked And careless.
I almost beat one inside LUTH for poorly attending to my aunty and still being rude after all bills has been paid.

Please , i can't even claim to understand the kind of pain and despair the deceased family is going through , but pls, they shouldn't trust the establishment the primary culprit in their daughter's demise works for to carry out a factual and unbiased investigation . Girl is in distress and all those police training and experience only programmes you to shoot at the 'abducted ' girl according to the killer cop . What a way to die , RIP young lady .

Next time the police flags your car down at a check-point, make sure you obey and stop grin
Also what are you doing racing around at 3am in the morning. If she was in bed, she would not have been shot.
This death was as a result of foolish youthful exuberance. Lesson learnt by all.

Well said but anything involving medical deaths become a source of public flaying of the medical profession as a whole. Make dem sue na, like it will ever achieve anything. Then when you actually do something na abeg abeg you go hear. Why should healthcare be given a different standard to live up to when the entire system is one shithole. We were born in a place where public healthcare, like electricity, transportation and education are in shambles. Accept this as "the will of God".

Anger is being directed at the wrong party.

Don't make Nigeria like the US, where money is wasted on frivolous law suits and investigations.

And that is one of the things that makes medical practice there expensive. A lot of unnecessary medical practices so that they will not be sued.

Medicine in Nigeria needs to be improved. No doubt. But not this way.
