Being in college has its high and low times. It’s fun because you get to have the time of your life and spend most of your time socializing, dating, partying, hanging out etc

It takes a serious toll on you when you realize that you have to be attentive towards to your grades and must not get in trouble for the academic reason.

While being in college sounds fun and leaves behind memories to remember for a lifetime, it must be emphasized that you cannot be in the college forever and will eventually have to enter the professional world.

To make sure you are well prepared, you must allow yourself to understand the professional world and its mechanism before you leave the college.

The transition from academic life to the professional world should be smooth so that you are prepared to tackle the challenges posed by and to the professionals in daily life.
It does not matter if you are in your junior or senior years, you can still count on these tips and mark your professional identity in the field and market of your choice.
Teaching:

Be it Secondary School Tuition or teaching in NGOs, teaching can always grant you professional points irrespective of what your field is.

That is being said because if you can teach well, you not only have the mental capacity to tolerate but also to address those who do not share the same mental and academic platform with you.

Teaching not only helps you be more tolerant but also makes you a better speaker that can help you later in life with your speaking and presentation skills, especially if you take your job seriously.

Work with NGOs:

NGOs cannot only help you score experience for your resume but can also help you get a perspective of what an actual professional life looks like.

NGOs run pretty much like offices, giving you a perspective of how huge firms, offices can be like.
If you can manage to be an outstanding employee in the NGO, you may very well be employed permanently and will give you a good start in your professional life.
Nairaland and your online presence:

Believe it or not, social media plays a huge role in developing your professional presence.

Bear in mind that if you have some embarrassing photos or videos of yourself online, try not to have them seen by those who you expect to find in your professional life.

Nairaland is a very important platform that can give you a boost in your professional life.

Not only can you get to connect with other professionals all around the world but your say and thoughts you post on Nairaland will also be visible to everyone on the platform.

If you have practical opinions related to your field and practice, they will be well appreciated by everyone in your circle and will give an insight of what you actually think.
Read more:

If reading is not your strongest skill, you should make it as soon as possible. Instead of relying on information that we obtain on the internet, reading can not only make you smart and enhance your vocabulary but will also give you a broad perspective of your specific field.

Reading does not necessarily have to be about your field for it can be about any field and profession.

Reading and engaging in a meaningful discourse with yourself through the literature of your relevant field will sharpen your skills and overall your ability to present your opinions in a professional circle.
