Nikola Kalinic has rejected the wWorld Cupmedal given to him after Croatia reached the final of the 2018 world cup in Russia which they lost to France.

Speaking to Sportske Novosti, Nikola Kalinic said, “Thanks for the medal, but I didn’t play in Russia”.

Nikola Kalinic was sent home right from the team’s first game at the world cup cup due to pride. After he was told by the coach to come on as a substitute 5 miniutes to the end of the game against Nigeria, Kalinic refused. He was the second top striker after Mario Mandzukic depended on by the Croatians.

After the game, Kalinic refused to apologize to the coach despite pleas from other coaching staff for him to do so. That led to him getting sent home.

Away from the team, he shared pictures showing him having a nice time, as it appeared he thought the team could never make it far in the tournament.
