In December 2016, the Nigerian government commenced employment of 200,000 youths under the N-power scheme with a N30,000 remuneration. The sole aim of the programme is to alleviate poverty among Nigerian youths, especially graduates. This initiative is unprecedented in the history of Nigerian politics, therefore it is commendable. The programme is subdivided into the following: N-power teach, Agro and N-build. And the total time allocated for the programme is 24 months.
Some wise persons among the beneficiaries have already ventured into small scale businesses, from their monthly earnings.
At the moment, the beneficiaries have already exhausted 19 months out of 24 months, so I am posing the question; what next?
There is a need for the federal government to provide an answer to that. The youths engaged in the programme need to know their fate. Personally, I don’t think the federal government should end the programme. Terminating the appointment of 200,000 youths will only add to the insecurity issue we are battling. An alternative is for the government to find a way of absorbing the youths in the various ministries, parastatals and agencies.

Youth empowerment cos is not all the youth that are benefitting from the so called N power some doesn't have the opportunity to go to school in order to obtain the certificate that would enable them to apply for n power program pls government should endeavor to scrutinize on this issue of empowerment cos is of Paramount importance.

Sorry bro but until there's equity and fair play Nigeria can never be one. I like your enthusiasm but am not convinced by the goings on in the country.

Why FG? How much have you been able to save to start something? FG laid a foundation which I think you ought to have made use of to plan ahead. If you have saved 5k per month, by the end of the programme, you will have 120k, that's enough to start a business nah. Remember, many were called but few were chosen so, the few should make use the oppurtunity.

Npower is not the end point rather, see it as a transition

After school and service, but still no job, Npower gives you a cushion to be productive and earn small change which should help you take care of basic life necessities while you are applying for jobs or planning to establish a business

If you see npower that way, you will plan early and use each stipend for self development and your deployment as a platform for connections

If you plan well, by end of the first year, you would be pressing the RESIGN button to go for your desired job

Or by end of 2 years, you have enough savings to start your business
