SOUTH AFRICA’S WITS UNIVERSITY DROPS GENDER PREFIX TITLES
The University of the Witwatersrand, also known as Wits University, has dropped gender prefixes in communication with students in a bid to create a more inclusive environment for students of the LGBTQI community.

This was made known by the programme coordinator of sexual orientation and gender identity advocacy Wits, Tish Lumos on a radio show.

According to her, “We’re removing all titles from individuals and students body and if you want to specify your title you can go on our self-service website and pick a title that works for you.”

UNIZIK STUDENTS PROTEST COLLEAGUE’S DEATH
Students of the Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka, Anambra State on Monday took to the streets to protest the death of their colleague.

The deceased Francis Madubuobi, a final year student of the Department of Applied microbiology reportedly collapsed while playing basketball.

The protesting students alleged that lack of medical facilities in the institution contributed to the death of Madubuobi.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RELEASE ADMISSION LIST INTO UNITY SCHOOLS
The Minister of Education Mallam Adamu Adamu has approved the release of admission into Junior Secondary School of the 104 Federal Government Colleges across the country.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Sonny Echono on Monday.

Echono said; “the release of the admission list followed the 2018 selection exercise for placement of qualified candidates into Junior Secondary School which was held recently at Owerri, Imo State.

UNIABUJA SET TO HOLD 1ST UNIVERSITIES KARATE CHAMPIONSHIP
The University of Abuja is set to host the maiden edition of All Nigerian Universities Karate Championship.

According to reports, the championship will start from July 27 to July 29 at the University main campus and it will witness 400 athletes from 37 universities across the nation fighting for glory.

Speaking during a press, the President of Nigerian University Karate Association Mustapha Mohammed said the championship is aimed at providing a new era kind of leadership for the youths in collaboration with the Japan embassy and the Karate Federation.

NIGERIAN COACH SALISU YUSUF CAUGHT ON CAMERA TAKING BRIBE
The coach of the Nigerian national Salisu Yusuf team has been caught on camera collecting bribe from undercover journalists who pretended to be football agents.

The bribe was offered and was collected after a discussion on player selection, BBC said.

The footage, shot by BBC’s Ghanaian reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas in September 2017, showed Yusuf collecting a wad of money, reportedly, $1000 cash.
