But please, why do we not dehorn cows here in Naija as is the practice abroad? A cow we bought for my dad's burial with a very bad temper nearly gored someone to death. It was a scary sight.

Always advisable to have Hausa / fulani's around until the cow is slaughtered, most of the cattles we have in Nigeria are still relatively wild, unpredictable and untamed.. We had a similar experience but not as bad as yours, it was at my dad's burial and the cow donated to us let loose from its leash. It only understood the Hausa been spoken by a man we brought to slaughter it, if not for that fact that we brought the man the night before, it would have been hell at that wake keep. I agree dehorning should be standard practice to reduce risk of goring people..
