The Peoples Elephant ceded leadership position in the group following the defeat, dropping to third on the log.

The two-time African champions have now conceded five goals in their two away fixtures without hitting the back of the net.

“We dominated during the first 20 minutes but then we lost because of the physical condition of the players,” Abdallah told reporters after the game.

“Our league has stopped and we are still trying to get in shape. It’s not over yet. We still have 2 more games to play.”

The Aba giants will face Mali’s Djoliba in their next game on August 19 in Bamako.

Their final group game is against CARA Brazzaville of Congo on August 28.
