If the impeached speaker of the Benue house of assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange, had been ordered by a court presided over by the state Chief Judge, Justice Adam Onum not to parade himself as speaker of the house as a result of the fact he had been impeached, then it is in line that contempt proceedings have been served on the former speaker for contempt of court on account of his actions of Monday morning (30th July, 2018). http://dailypost.ng/2018/07/30/benue-impeachment-drama-ikyange-okefe-others-face-contempt-court/ He currently is to appear in court to explain why an order for his committal to prison should not be made against him for his contempt, but the question really is... If he committed an act of criminality or illegality (which from every apparent occurrence he did) who aided and abetted him? The answer is not only clear but also visible in video evidence broadcast nationally on Channels TV and elsewhere: The Nigerian police. So is there any reason why they should not be with decisive determination sued to the fullest extent for the actions they took? Is that not the only way we can discipline them into being protectors of the law instead of the political thugs they are degenerating themselves into? Will that not lead to all of us finding out who gave the order(s) for those policemen to be deployed and to act as political thugs on that fateful morning and be party to that act void of any kind of dignity or honour? Racoon:The orders must be traced all the way to the top. Can policement just deploy themselves unto such loud, visible and national stage acts like that? Policemen cannot just deploy themselves to do anything. It is their superiors that deploy them. |
