GOSPEL ARTISTE REJECTS MULTI-MILLION NAIRA LIQUOR DEAL

A fast rising Nigerian Female Gospel Artiste named 'Deola rejected a multi-million naira worth brand deal with a Nigeria based Liquor company recently.

According to a very reliable source, 'Deola refused to be part of the company's advert and also be used to promote their brand of liquor produced by the said company.

We further learnt that 'Deola who also starred as "Sandra" in the Soap VICTIMS currently showing on TV was contacted by the company online through her Facebook Fan Page(www.facebook.com/deolaogunsanya) and got interested in her for the said deal only for her to reject the multi-million Naira worth deal.

When contacted through her Manager, the story was confirmed and the Manager has this to say when asked why such a deal was rejected talking about the worth of the deal;"'Deola is a Gospel Artiste and it will be definately be out of focus for a Gospel Artiste like 'Deola to forget the brand she is representing and go with a conflicting brand like that of a liquor company. She is focused to remain strictly Gospel. If it were to be for a soft drink deal, she would have considered the offer."

Her Manager further said that he does not see the offer as a temptation to shift focus being strictly Gospel as 'Deola will never confuse her brand as a Gospel Artiste as it is with the norms of some Gospel Artistes.

It would be recalled that a Female Gospel Artiste also recently rejected performing at an Idol festival. How long will they resists all these temptations? Will they continue to be like Jesus Christ in that bible? Only time will tell.

God bless Deola, the world still needs to see Christians that will not do just anything to have money

@ psoter- I find this your conclusion very shocked

How long will they resists all these temptations? Will they continue to be like Jesus Christ in that bible? Only time will tell.

You do not have to wait to see what you said time will tell. There is no compromise in Christianity. We have a unique message and no amount of money can make us change our minds on our principles, our way of life.
Thumbs up for DEOLA!!!

[size=13pt] shocked shocked shocked :oIs this TRUE?

Absolutely incredible stuff. This is fabulously refreshing at a time when we have NO MORE Gospel singers left in the industry ---just gospel wannabees

Name them: Rooftop MCs, Nikki Laoye, Bouqui, Timi Dakolo (saw him in a gospel concert), Paul IK Dairo (totally gone with the devil), etc

These all started in/with Church, and slowly mixed up with the multitude.

Featuring MI in a gospel song (How utterly pathetic is that?)

These and many more are all money chasers and not God-chasers. Their lyrics are no different from Tu face's or 50 cent's.

Check their ipods, many of the songs are secular songs,

If that's where you get your inspiration, how can you edify me sister/brother?

It's such a pathetic state!

I hope some of them reads this and STANDOUT for CHRIST!

O ye Lukewarmers

Are we not being hypocrites here. During most of our pre native and native wedding, we use these 'ogogoro' as you call it, to great effect. Most in laws cannot even get started unless you come with a good one. So are our parents 'ungodly?' I hope she bans her dad from demanding for one during her marriage

Am realy surprise that somebody can even make the funny attempt to call Bouqi a gospel Artiste. . Lol. . That weird foxy brown wanna-be junk rapper. . Hahaha. . .Timi who tha 4ck is that after West african Idol the guy faded. . .oh I 4get to mention our beloved gospel/secular singer, kenny Saint Brown that has performed in the clubs with gals wearing minis and hot pants than amongst bible wielding ppl. . .i bet these guys too woulda rejected a deal from a liquor company if the deal is not too favourable to em inspite of the so-called huge amount mentioned. . . Who are they kidding? Me? . . Scheew. . How come the exact amount or even the liqour company was not mentioned. . Abi is this a ruse to gather attention and hype this relatively unknown singer as was done with M.I. . .

Hmmm
So what is wrong with endorsing an alcoholic drink
Well I think she's got a bit of a point on principle, but what about the brothers and sisters that work in Guiness,NB etc.
Some well known deacons are even chairmen of someof these companies,is there anything wrong with it?
Except on the bass of whatever will cause thy brother to stumble undecided undecided undecided

Hmm, interesting.
Don't get it though. She's not even popular, going by the replies on here. And why would the liquor company specifically choose her for the commercial?

ok

firstly,

i need to see the original article till then i dont believe hearsay,

2ndly

why would an alcoholic coy approach a gospel singer that is not known (cos i ve never heard of her) to endorse their product?

BUT

if its true, then its actually refreshing that peeps still hold their christian values

ALSO,
as sumone rightly pointed out, being a Christian does it means that you should not work in a liquor coy if presented with the opportunity

on the bolded phrase, i assume you escorted him to that destination, right?
While you have a point and i agree with the crux of your argument, reason why i can't remember when last i listened to a Nigerian gospel artiste, even the foriegn ones i am cautious,i listen to a lot of secular music but when i want to listen to gospel, i want gospel not pseudo-gospel or a person who is not even attempting to live the live he/she is singing.
yet we need to be careful in passing judgement on people zealously.
He that is standing, should be careful lest he falls.
But for grace,

Re: Gospel Artiste Rejects Multi-million Naira Liquor Deal by gReenmAn(m): 9:06am On Jun 21, 2010
Wayyy too many holes in this story as already pointed out by many.

Question:
Why would any serious company -identity conveniently missing in this case- make any serious offer to an artiste via her Facebook Fan Page?!

That is ludicrous at best.
This is simply a lame attempt to hype the unknown act.
