Manchester United is set to fine Anthony Martial two weeks wages for failing to train for eight days after he went home following the birth of his son.

Anthony Martial left Manchester United's tour in the US and went to Paris to be with his girlfriend as they welcomed their newborn baby boy but the want-away striker failed to return, and he will be fined wages amounting to a whopping £180,000.

Martial, 22, left the team's US tour last week to be in Paris for the boy's birth.

But Mourinho was expecting him to return to the States afterwards and he has not.

When he was asked last night what the future held for the player, Mourinho tried to refer the question to his press office Karen Shotbolt.

He said: “Anthony Martial is better for Karen to answer if she wants to answer.”
