A Woman Called Police After A Pizza With Mushrooms Was Mistakenly Delivered by Nobody: 6:59pm On Aug 01, 2018
Law enforcement in Essex, UK released the recording to the public as an example of situations in which you should not call the police.

The woman was frustrated at having received a pizza with mushrooms on it, claiming that she was allergic to the vegetable, and wanted her money back.

The over-the-top call is part of a campaign to raise awareness about not wasting law enforcement's time with non-emergencies.

You may be familiar with the frustration when a restaurant gets your order totally wrong, but can you imagine calling the police about it?

That's exactly what one woman in England did. Angry that her pizza arrived covered in mushrooms, which she said she was allergic to, and apparently not receiving a satisfactory response from the manager of the pizza place, she called "999," the British equivalent of "911."

"I rang up for a number 18, a number 18, a meat feast, but she trying to tell me 'nah nah you ordered a number eight,' I am allergic to mushrooms so I know for a fact that I did not order a number eight," the unidentified woman can be heard complaining to the emergency operator. "So I am sitting here with a pizza with f*cking mushrooms on that I can't eat. £11.99 later and she [the pizza shop manager] will not help me."

Essex police made the call public as part of an initiative called "More Time to Fight Crime." They're hoping to raise awareness that you should not, in fact, waste the emergency service's time with phone calls about your pizza order gone awry.

"I've basically been mugged off by a f*cking takeaway, would you believe it?" the mushroom pizza-plagued woman can be heard telling the operator.

Other examples of non-emergency calls they received included noise complaints about a police helicopter circling overhead and a report about a bull standing in a field.
