Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee (PACAC) said Senate President Bukola Saraki can still keep his position as Senate President despite defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).

In a chat with Daily Independent, Sagay said Saraki can only be removed from the position by two-thirds of senators but added that the APC as the majority party will not want to concede the position to the PDP which is in the minority.

“Yes, he can still keep his position as Senate President despite his defection. He can only be removed as Senate President if he is voted out by two-third of the majority.

“So, it doesn’t depend on what party you are in, any party can be there. Although, the majority party is not going to concede that post to a minority party as he (Saraki) conceded the position of Deputy Senate President to PDP. It is only when you are an arch-betrayer that you do that sort of thing".

So it's people like Oshiomole,APC senators etc calling for his resignation that are acting silly being uninformed as far as the law is concerned.

Yes nah. Sagay doesnt like Saraki. So if he can say this, then it is the position of the law. He said the same thing when Tambuwal defected in 2014

Who cares what the "majority" thinks The constitution says 2/3 and that is ALL that matters

or

is the APC lawmakers now above the law That they can now interpret the law to suit them whenever and however they please

They should go and take their medicine oooòoo because if everyone should take laws into their hands, there will be anarchy !

They should know better!

Haaaaaaaaa!!! Sagay finally remembered d constitution!! Wonderful.. E b lyk Sagay has decamped oooo.. It was really painful for him to admit dis, he had to add "Arch betrayer" somewhere in d speech

obailala:
Can you point out one single example of a time wben Sagay forgot the constitution?... Just 1 example please..

Oga you too... Kindly point out one single example of where Prof Sagay said one thing contrary to the law. Just 1.

obailala:
And how exactly are all these examples you gave against the constitution?....

All the examples you gave are simply articles where he expressed political support for buhari. So if for instance, I say "buhari is a good man", how exactly is my personal opinion contrary to the constitution?... Abi English dey hard you bros?

So his stance on Maina, on d mass defection and on media trials for alleged corrupt ex Presidents who haven't being charged or even prosecuted are all constitutional abi?? It is obvious U not only have a problem with English comprehension but logical reasoning as well

Vote him out na...na only talk una sabi talk?

FYI: PDP is majority in the house as I type..
And next season SARAKI would still remain the Senate President, Atiku or kwankwoso would be your President and Bohary would be in daura or in prison depending on how he plays his last card...

Don't be deceived. I am sure prof Sagay would have been singing another tune but for the fact that he said in 2014 that the defection of Tambuwa from PDP to APC was legal. The prof is ashame to eat his words.

What exactly is 2/3 majority?
Is it
A ==> 2/3 of the senate house
or
B==> 2/3 of those present?
If B does dat mean a sitting of say 6 senators can impeach the senate president?

As the ruling party and with majority in the House, it is ideal they have the senate President.
Re: Joining PDP Doesn't Affect Saraki's Position As Senate President - Prof. Sagay by Ngasky(m): 8:44am On Aug 03, 2018
Yes he can keep the position but from now on he will never have his way as he used to for the past 3 years.
Also, he should forget next senate presidency in the ninth senate. It will never happen even if PDP is able to form majority of the senate which is very impossible.
Among the 14 defectors at most 2 may be able to return to the senate chamber. All those from core north have already loose their seats. Also same scenario likely for the SW.
To the SS there will be an inroad for APC. And to some Extent the SE. Traditionally these two zones always identify with the party in power.
Also the strictness of the voting procedure will make rigging extremely difficult. And PDP always rely on security/INEC connivance since 1999 which will not be so forthcoming this time around.
Why are we having voter turnout of less than 30% since 2015? Because the voter register is highly bloated by fake registers, and on election date this fake multiple registered voters cannot vote more than once. That is the reason for apparent voters apathy, the real voters come out to vote (70% or more real voters) but still they cant be upto 40% registered in that respective polling unit.
Before what PDP used to do is just fill in the record of those missing voters. Now no party can succeed in doing this
