Its really absurd when agent is asking for money before you can be taken for an inspection and at the end of it if you are not contented with few houses you will have to pay another fee. Also its crazy to be taken wrong fees from people. Wicked ppl

Hello house.
No real agent will ask you money prior to inspection:though you(the prospective tenant) should be the one responsible for his T/fare during the periord he is running around for you becourse you may as well be talking to 10 agents,if they spend their money transporting themselves around and you find your choice with some other agents,the others loss out,not only on your would have been fees but also small personal sums that means a lot to most agents especially those at the mainland.they are the ones that really demand.such.money.even at that,there are men among them who know their bearing though.

I think it will be a great idea, if they could do something about it.
Agent fees = 10%
Agreement fee = 10%

They say u must recharge their phones and cater for their transportation.Yet after all these u still pay agent fees.The question is;What is this so-called agent fee for?We need agents to answer this question.

If you need an apartment got register with Diya, Jide Taiwo and other real estate firm, you would not pay any money except the standard agency fee when you are paying for the apartment. of course if you use on of those one room agents they will not only collect those stupid retainer fee but you could end up being duped

I think it is time they make sure all agents are nothing short of the real Estate Surveyors . . . . Accredited and licensed by their body, cos i am sure they care not allowed to charge such ridiculous charges

yes o alot of 419 is even involve some don't even have a house on ground all they do is collect that so called transport fee and continue to post you some thing need to be done to these thiefs hisssss,

It is always a take it or leave it situation, You actually have a choice so stop whining and go for qualified agents who will not charge inspection fees but may not also have your time. Didnt you see Diya or Osas?. The problem is that many nigerians like backyard bussiness but they dont like backyard fees.

The mainland agents are the worst. Whoever is getting a house should ensure the house is vacant and not under lock and key. May the Lord be with us all.

In life, you have the good and the bad. maybe an inspection agent collected money from you does not mean they are all cheaters. if it were possible to carry houses about, agents would not exist. one word of advice, strive to have your own house. we have cheaters in every sector. police, army, politics etc.
Even our government collect funny levys. take heart, e go better

In my own opinion and from the "little research" l've done about the practice of these Estate Agents, l agree with a lot of other people who say "JIDE TAIWO" IS THE WORST AMONG THE CRIMINAL ESTATE AGENTS IN LAGOS.
I was pushed into a fact finding mission when a cousin of mine who lives in Ebute-Metta area of Lagos asked me for money to defray additional cost of house rent.

This person is single and lives in a "single room & parlor" with a kitchen and toilet. The bedroom is the same size as the living room (parlor) (10ft x 10ft), the kitchen and bath/toilet is 3.5ft x 5ft (its such a rat-hole  sad )

The building is one of these "developer, barracks-type of building", three storeys, very narrow staircase (accident in waiting), poor design with no respect for any form of ventilation!
When she rented a year & half ago, she paid #130,000:00 per annum

The landlord now gave the building to JIDE TAIWO to manage, a few weeks back and the first thing this unscrupulous Estate Agent did was to increase the rent of ALL TENANTS by almost hundred percent!

A single room and parlor suddenly rose from #130K to #250,000:00! per annum[/size]

And to imagine that this is a house where the owner has never partake in any form of renovation since it was built(The tenants pay additional #12,000:00 annually for maintenance, upon their house rent!

I asked around and was told its the same criminal behavior in any building he is given to manage!

So, for those thinking that its only the "small and local Tout-come-house Agent" that is evil, just pray that your landlord does not decide to give his house to Jide Taiwo, you will sweat like Christmas goat, walahi!
He will simply convince the landlord that he can double his income from that house (and his own commission by implication), not minding the upheaval the company is causing the present occupants.

Its really a high time the govt, especially that of Lagos state, clamp down on all these illegal and criminal increase in house rent. It must be justified and should not be extortionist otherwise, a tenantwho has a family and cannot pay might be pushed to the wall.

I hear from the grapevine that its one of the reasons some of these houses suddenly catch fire grin grin shocked grin

That is why most guys find it difficult to leave their parent houses until the olden days when they deal with landlord and they only paid one month rent. they have made life seems difficult for the growing one. ALL AGENTS ARE THIEF
