*OUR Coconut Oil Can Help You Lose Fat, Especially The Harmful Abdominal Fat*

Given that coconut oil can reduce appetite and increase fat burning, it makes sense that it can also help you lose weight.

OUR Coconut oil appears to be especially effective at reducing belly fat, which lodges in the abdominal cavity and around your vital organs.

This is the most dangerous fat of all and is highly associated with many chronic diseases.

In a study of 40 women with abdominal obesity, supplementing with 30 mL (2 tablespoons) of coconut oil per day led to a significant reduction in both BMI and waist circumference over a period of 12 weeks.

Another study in 20 obese males noted a reduction in waist circumference of 1.1 inches (2.86 cm) after 4 weeks of 30 mL (2 tablespoons) of coconut oil per day.

OIL PULLING is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that consists of swishing coconut oil (or an oil like it) in your mouth for anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. Proponents posit that it improves oral health by treating gingivitis, preventing tooth decay, killing bad breath, and whitening teeth.

Coconut oil, also known as copra oil, is suitable in medical and other domestic purposes.

As a result of its high content of oily-milk, it is slow to oxidize and it is resistant to rancidification, which has the shelf life of two years and beyond when properly processed into oil.

Extraction process:

Coconut oil production is done in two ways:

Dry method – This process requires.
Wet method.
Dry processing – This method involves drying of the extracted meat by means of firing or kilns to generate copra, which is crushed and pressed to generate the coconut oil.

Wet process – This method is widely practice in homes by house wives. The coconut meat is crushed, washed with water to collect milky liquid, which is further boiled or heated to a certain temperature, after which, it is allowed to cool down and the oil would be collected by means of de-counting or by the use of oil extractor.

It is generally use for the treatment of several ailments, such as cough, neutralizing food poison, used in production of body and hair cream amongst other medical and pharmaceutical applications.

Coconut is readily available and very cheap in Nigeria, especially in the coastal areas. It is found in commercial quantity in over six states of the country.

Process Description:

Cleaning: remove shell and brown skin and washing by machines

Drying: putting clean coconut meat to chain tunnel dryer

Crushing: making dry coconut meat to suitable small pieces

Pre-press: Press the cakes to leave oil 16%-18% in the cake. The cake will go to extraction process

Filtration: filtrating the oil more clearly then pump it to the oil tank

At this point, the produced coconut oil is bottled and packaged neatly in cartons, with branded name and trade mark, that makes your product outstanding from the ones in the market, thereafter; it is ready to be marketed.

Cost implication:

The cost of investment depends on the capacity of the factory or plant you wish to install. As little as from N100, 000 to as much as N50M could be invested in the business.

It is highly lucrative, as more and more persons are becoming aware of the innumerable use of the product.

Note: Pre-treatment and prepressing section is a very important before extraction, as it will directly affect extraction and affect and oil quality.

There are so many oils out there it's impossible to keep up, but many consider coconut oil the HBIC of all oils. Its gained such a glowing reputation because there's not a lot of things coconut oil can't do. It's one of those do-it-all miracle oils that might as well be the beauty world's holy water. Not sure what all the hype is about? Well, coconut oil has the power to burn fat, bless you with healthy, thick hair, fight off bacteria, seamlessly remove makeup, work as a whitening toothpaste, and more. Although we could go on and on about its uses, today we're here to talk about hair, and the many ways coconut oil can help in that category.

How exactly should you be using coconut oil to transform your hair? Celebrity stylist to the stars Cynthia Alvarez along with master stylist and colorist at IGK salon Stephanie Brown share the many ways they put this magic oil to use. Arguably the best thing about coconut oil is its super cheap price tag. So if you don't have a jar, you're going to want to buy 10 after reading this.

Tip #1: Coconut Oil Has the Power to Make Your Hair Grow Longer, Thicker, and Healthier

Let's start this story off right with the answer we've all been waiting for: Does coconut oil make your hair grow? Yes, indeed it does. "Coconut oil will definitely help your hair grow healthier, thicker, and longer," Brown confirms. "The vitamins and fatty acids in coconut oil help nourish your scalp and penetrates the cuticle of the hair. A treatment mask about once every week or two weeks for five to 10 minutes will do the trick" (...keep scrolling for Brown's favorite coconut oil-infused mask). Alvarez agrees, adding that incorporating coconut oil into your routine creates the optimal environment for hair growth. "The vitamins and essential fatty acids also helps to remove sebum build-up from hair follicles, which speeds up growth," she explains.

Tip #2: Lather It All Over Your Hair For a Pre-Poo Shampoo Treatment

It's no secret that harsh ingredients found in many shampoos can strip your hair of its natural, good-for-you oils. "If your hair is feeling a little dry or damaged, coconut oil is a good pre-shampoo treatment to prevent shampoos from stripping all the oils from your hair," Brown suggests. So massage coconut oil into your hair from root-to-tip before you shampoo to prevent this.

Tip #3: Use It Before a Big Dye Job to Prevent Hair Coloring Damage

"I like to tell certain clients to put a little coconut oil in their hair before getting major highlights or going platinum because it helps protect the hair from bleach," Brown says.

Tip #4: Rub It On Your Split Ends For a Quick Fix and Frizz Control

If running to the salon to solve your split end problem is not going to happen any time soon, consider coconut oil your right-hand man for a quick fix. Before we go any further though, sorry, you still have to go to the salon eventually to really get your split ends taken care of—by no means is this a permanent solution. "Coconut oil will help smooth the cuticles on your split ends, so your hair doesn’t looked frayed at the end. It also helps tame frizz due to split ends or humid weather." It actually can control frizz on your whole head, not just on your split ends. "It prevents frizz because it's great for replenishing moisture in your hair," Alvarez adds, so you should use it on the driest parts of your hair.

Tip #5: Apply It on Your Hair As a Leave-In Treatment

"I love using coconut oil as a leave-in treatment in the summer," Brown suggests. "The heat from the sun will open up the cuticle so the oil will penetrate your hair even more. Its ingredients have natural protectants that save your hair from sun damage. Coconut oil also protects the hair from drying out or getting brittle from salt water and chlorine." In other words, you're going to need it this summer, so keep some in your beach bag too!

Coconut is a fairly unique food in this world, being one of the only sources in nature of medium chain triglycerides. Apart from coconut oil, palm kernel oil, and goat milk are really the only other food sources of these beneficial fatty acids. Palm kernel oil is hard to find and not the same thing as palm oil, though there is a small amount of medium chain triglycerides in palm oil. Coconut oil really is the easiest place for adults to find medium chain triglycerides.

Unlike most fats that are long chains that must be broken down in the intestines to be digested, medium and short chain fatty acids can be absorbed intact, without bile salts, and sent directly to the liver for energy production. This isn’t the only unique feature of these shorted fatty acid chains. Medium chain triglycerides far less likely to be stored as fat, they boost energy levels, and they’re also naturally antifungal, antibacterial, and antiviral. The antiviral properties of coconut oil are being studied greatly at the moment. It may not cure many illnesses, but it seems to lessen the viral load many infected have to carry.

Two of the most potent medium chain triglycerides found in coconut oil are lauric acid and capric acid. These two attack and kill viruses with lipid (fat) coatings. Viruses with such a structure include herpes, measles, HIV, hepatitis C, influenza, mononucleosis, and warts. Many of these diseases are sexually transmitted and devastate the infected for the rest of their lives with terrible symptoms. Coconut oil is showing amazing promise at reducing symptoms.

How does it work? Lauric acid and capric acid are metabolized into the monoglycerides monolaurin and monocaprin. These are short enough to be considered useful by the viruses’ coating, but too large to actually be of any benefit. They attach to and then dissolve this protective coating, essentially spilling their insides out and killing the viruses. This works against many harmful bacteria and fungi as well while being harmless to human cells.

Reasons to Use Coconut Oil in Your Beauty Routine

While it may still surprise most, some people are beginning to realize that aside from kitchen counters, coconut oil definitely deserves a spot in bathroom shelves and bedroom vanities as well. You’ve probably heard of all the health benefits coconut oil can do for your body—improves digestion, fights infection and increases metabolism, just to name a few—but exactly what about coconut oil makes it just as beneficial for your skin and hair?

“Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants that help prevent aging and damage to our skin and hair. It also has antibacterial and antifungal properties that help keep skin healthy and fight skin allergies and yeast infections that may be responsible for rashes, dermatitis and thinning hair,” says New York-based beauty expert and plastic surgeon Dr. Monica Tadros.

Coconut oil is the most abundant source of lauric acid, a fatty acid known for its antimicrobial, moisturizing, and hormone-balancing properties. Aside from its anti-aging and skin-healing abilities, it also stimulates the production of collagen, and its vitamin E content protects the skin from sun damage. Dr. Tadros also adds that because of its moisturizing effect, dry and combination skin types would greatly benefit from its use. “This is because its hydrating moisture directly treats dry skin and indirectly suppresses overactive oil-producing glands.” However, if you have oily skin, Dr. Tadros recommends using coconut oil as a mask application and washing off with a gentle cleanser.

When it comes to hair, using coconut oil helps maintain moisture and prevent protein loss from combing damage. That’s great news if you’ve been plagued by dry, itchy scalp, dandruff, hair loss and even frizz. All that fatty acids goodness also make it perfect for nourishing chapped lips, dry cuticles and brittle nails.

A teaspoon of honey before bed is just what the doctor ordered. The sweet liquid will restock the liver with the glycogen needed to prevent the crisis trigger from the brain. Honey's natural sugars also slightly raise insulin, allowing tryptophan to enter the brain.

What is tryptophan? Tryptophan is an amino acid that is turned into niacin, an essential B vitamin. Niacin is a key player in the creation of serotonin, a neurotransmitter needed to produce melatonin and put your body to sleep.

There is no extra step needed when it comes to using honey to aid in your sleep. Sure, you can add it to tea, make a little potion, or add some cinnamon, but all you really need is a clean spoon and a jar of raw honey!

Why Raw Honey?

In all cases, when it comes to raw vs. pasteurized honey, there is no contest! Pasteurization kills most of the vitamins, antioxidants, and antibiotic elements in honey, aka all of the benefits honey, has to offer. For sleep, raw honey is the right choice. Raw honey is said to be around 22% better at making liver glycogen than pasteurized conventional honey.

Safe to say raw honey is always the right choice! Now that all you busy bees know the secret to great sleep, get ready for the beauty rest you’ve always dreamed of! Sweet dreams and nighty night!

Coconut is a super fruit whose origin scientists and foodologists are still debating over. It’s safe to say that coconut has been around for as long as man can remember. The oil gotten from coconut kernels is tasteless and colorless, but super rich in a unique sequence of fatty acids that has many beneficial effects on the human body.

A Boost in Good Cholesterol: Coconut oil is said to modestly hike one’s level of good cholesterol.

Good for Blood Sugar and Diabetes: Coconut oil can aid in lowering obesity levels in the body and also battles insulin resistance – issues that often lead to type two diabetes.

Helps Fight Back Against Alzheimer’s Disease: The MCFA component in coconut oil – especially its generation of ketones by the liver – aids in mending brain function in Alzheimer patients.

Helps Stop Heart Disease and High Blood Pressure: Since coconut oil is so high in saturated fats, that helps boost HDL (or “good”) cholesterol to ward off heart disease and lowering high triglycerides.

Additionally, coconut oil also performs a rather remarkable and heart-healthy feat – it helps turn bad cholesterol into good cholesterol.

Aids in Liver Health: Coconut oil also guards against any damage to the liver, and also aids in curing urinary tract infections.

Boosts Energy: Unrefined coconut oil also hikes energy and endurance, primarily by its MCFA’s shooting directly into the liver, which enables to be converted into energy.

Aids with Digestion: Another benefit of coconut oil – it helps with food digestion by aid the body take in fat-soluble components like vitamins and magnesium.

It also eliminates toxic bacteria and candida, which fights poor digestion and stomach inflammation. That helps prevent stomach ulcers.

Salve: People can apply coconut oil to their skin, hair, and teeth. Studies suggest it works as a skin moisturizer, protects against skin damage, and improves oral health.

Acts as an Anti-aging Component: Rich with antioxidants, coconut oil is known to slow the aging process, generally by curbing any undue stress on the liver.

Coconut oil also can help with weight loss, as it acts as a fat burner and a calorie burner, especially with doses of unrefined coconut oil.

It also acts as an appetite suppressant.

Re: Health, Skin & Cooking Benefits Of Our Unrefined Coconut Oil by IMC247: 3:32pm On Apr 24

The existence of Covid-19 has called for many types of research to be done to find a cure or means to fight this deadly disease killing many people all over the world.

This article will focus on the antimicrobial factor in coconut oil and how it is relevant to the fight against the COVID-19.

Some basic concepts

Lauric acid (dodecanoic acid) is a medium-chain fatty acid, or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT), found in foods that contain saturated fat. There are a number of foods that contain lauric acid. Some of these include palm kernel oil and butter from grass-fed animals, coconut. Of all the foods, coconuts offer the highest levels of lauric acid hands down.
The lauric acid content of coconuts is roughly 44 to 53 per cent of their total fatty acid content.

The reason this is important is because lauric acid is the precursor to a compound called monolaurin, that does the body good. Human beings are introduced to monolaurin as newborns and throughout infancy through human milk, and this compound (monolaurin) serves as a strong antimicrobial agent and also stabilizes mammalian cell walls. Monolaurin, ultimately, is the reason why you want to consume foods containing lauric acid.

Monolaurin (glycerol monolaurate, glyceryl monoglyceride) is a chemical made from lauric acid, which is found in coconut milk and breastmilk. It is used for preventing and treating colds, flu, swine flu shingles and other infections. Why is the current virus not killing children that much constituents of monolaurin: it is derived from lauric acid and glycerine. why are we advocating for handwashing in the Covid-19 period? Think about the constituents of the soap and its formation (lauric acid+na=sodium laurate, which is soap.)

The lauric acid in coconut oil is used by the body to make the same disease-fighting fatty acid derivative monolaurin that babies make from the lauric acid they get from their mother’s milk. The monoglyceride monolaurin is the substance that keeps infants from getting viral or bacterial or protozoal infections. Until just recently, this important benefit has been largely overlooked by the medical and nutrition community. Can this answer why most children are being spared by the Covid-19 worldwide?

From the above research on the antiviral properties of coconut oil in combating viral infections, we advocate for patronage on the coconut oil usage to help minimize or eradicate this COVID-19
