ASABA—MAJOR political stakeholders in Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta state under the aegis of Unity Group have thrown their weight for the re- election of the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in 2019.
To this end, the Unity Group has passed a vote of confidence on the governor and also endorsed him for a second term in 2019 based on his numerous achievements with practical footprints of development in Isoko land.
Addressing large crowd of the people at Iyede in the local government area, the State Commissioner for Housing and Acting Chairman of the group, Mr Joseph Ogeh said Unity Group was formed in 2015 as a platform to support and project the election of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as governor.
Ogeh listed some achievements of the Okowa administrations in Isoko nation to include road infrastructure, upgrade of the Ofagbe Technical College, accreditation of the Law and Engineering Faculties of the Oleh Campus of the Delta State University which were not accredited before the coming of the present administration.
On his part,the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Mr Tim Owhefere said Unity Group was used as an umbrella to project Senator Ifeanyi Okowa stressing that the group would ensure that no opposition breaks into Isoko land.
He said in the 2015 governorship election Isoko North came sixth in terms of voting, adding that the people should work hard to improve on their previous performance as the governor has proved himself with practical development.
Others who spoke include the pioneer Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Emmanuel Okoro, the Commissioner representing Isoko ethnic nationality on the Board of DESOPADEC, Mr Oviemuno Oghoore, Dr Patrick Akporuno, Dr Nelson Ejakpovi among others.
