Senator Ibrahim Abdullahi Danbaba representing Sokoto South Senatorial district says they would not regret dumping the APC for PDP as insinuated, just as he warned against attempts to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki.

“How can you impeach him, you cannot impeach a leader like the Senate President without having 2/3rd, you need 73 senators to be able to impeach him.”

He stressed “The issue is we do not simply allow people to be operating government the way they want, we allow people to operate government based on the rules and provision of the Nigerian constitution.”

Reacting to call by a group for Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal to resign following his defection, he said there was no justification for that.

“He cannot resign because it is not APC alone that gave him the mandate, but the people of Sokoto state,” he asserted.

“The fact is that we contributed to the success of that election so if you want to ask Governor Tambuwal to resign, it means we will go back reflect on what transpired, we have to extract our votes that counted for him to become governor and then add the number of votes that PDP garnered, then the PDP candidate would have been declared the winner of the election.”
