Having acquired a plot or plots of land and ready to commence development, the following professionals are expected to be actively involved in the project. Suffice to say, the client may not necessarily have to meet with these professionals but the project manager must ensure they are involved. They are not listed in any order.

1. Land Surveyors
The land surveyors determine the relative positions of the land with the measurement of points, elevation, location latitude and longitude, property boundary shape, the area of the landed property size, and establish the beacon on site to define boundaries. All these are represented in a survey plan which is duly stamped by a registered surveyor and registered at Surveyor General’s office.

2. Architects
Architects are licensed professional that deal basically on building designs, develop structural concepts and the overall aesthetics of the building and other structures. They are also responsible for public safety and overseeing of projects. The final stage of their designs are reproduced in drawings duly stamped by regulatory bodies.

Their role is important in every stage of the building's construction, as they regularly visit the project site to make sure the contractor adheres to the design concept and work quality standards from the initial concept till the building is completed.

3. Geotechnical Engineers
Geotechnical Engineers analyze the subterranean rock and soil to determine its suitability to purport extreme loads. Proper geotechnical engineering is essential for a safe and secure structure and involves preparation of specification for all ground investigations, evaluation of the site investigation reports to determine foundation type and settlement criteria to be used in design.

The geotechnical engineer carries out in-situ and laboratory analysis of soils collected from the building site.

4. Structural Engineers
The structural engineers design the structural members of the building. The SE estimates the loads and forces acting on the structures so as to appropriately carry them, prepares design calculations, drawings, specifications of structures to ensure they are strong enough to avoid collapse or failures when loaded.

The structural engineers are expected to work in synergy with the architects to ensure structural safety assurance during building construction and go for routine supervision during construction to ensure the design specification are implemented to the latter.

5. Builders
Builders oversee and undertake a range of projects in the construction industry. These may include the construction of homes or other buildings, the repair of existing building structures, or the alteration of buildings to give them new form and function.

6. Quantity surveyors
The Quantity Surveyors specialize in preparing estimates and bill of quantities for the value of construction works. The QS work covers estimates for new buildings, renovations or maintenance work, from the cost of the design, materials to final figures.

You can't acquire a land and have peace without a surveyor.
Having said that, as a structural engineer, all I need is a good architect and if you can't do the rest, u should go back to school or try another career
