SENATOR Godswill Akpabio says Akwa Ibom State now belongs to the All Progressive Congress, (APC).

Mr Akpabio stated this on Wednesday when he officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

“I want you to know that from today Akwa Ibom is now an APC state,” the lawmaker who is a former governor of the state said.

He said his defection to the APC is for the interest of the state.

“I am in APC to link the state to the centre,” Akpabio added.



The former governor who recently resigned from his seat as the Senate Minority Leader is a first timer at the upper legislative chamber.



Akpabio defected with his supporters who included lawmakers of the state assembly, some of the recently sacked commissioners of the state and various chieftains of the PDP in the state.

The occasion took place at the Ikot Ekpene Township stadium where mammoth crowd gathered to witness the event.

Present to witness his defection were the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole; the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha; national leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu among others.

This defection really hurts PDP to their bone marrow, especially Saraki.

When Saraki decamped, it was protests upon protests by Kwarans to tell him they’re tired of him, calling him ole and barawo. Akpabio decamped and the whole stadium was filled to the brim.

You could see the pain through the voice of Ben Bruce yesterday.

PDP will experience the worst form of defeat in their political history come 2019.

APC has actually gained more with the defection of Saraki and co. More grassroots politicians have left PDP in Kwara for APC, for example.

Sokoto gone with 18 state reps
Kwara gone with 23 state reps
15 senators including ghost senators
37 federal reps
Kano deputy with 10 commisioners including commisioner for graveyard
6 kano state reps gone
2 Adamawa state commisioners
1 foreign ambassador
And many more

Saraki defected with almost all the house members, state governor and all commissioners and the whole APC structure in Kwara

Akpabio is standing only with his family members,
2 commissioners,
2 house member
2 LGA Chairmen
and only one former PDP exco

Almost all APC members in Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa and Cross Rivers state were there.
Amaechi even mobilized and filled Adokie Amesimeka stadium.
Akpabio's greed will retire him like Obong Victor Attah soon.

The future of Nigeria is as dark as lunar eclipse angry

For this number of Akwa Ibom people to turnout for any reason to support this selfish man in his selfish political interest means majority of Nigerians are complete fools and reason Nigerian politicians don't take leadership accountability serious.

It is a shame to be called a Nigerian cry
