They best ways to make your baby smarter after birth, is what a mother strives to know. Developing the IQ of your baby during a tender age to stand out in his/her childhood period is every parent’s dream.

What is the best way to mentally stimulate your baby? It doesn’t really take a genius of a parent to discover these simple ways to boost the baby’s IQ. Here are 9 ways to make your baby smarter after birth
.
1. Cuddling

The human beings react in some mysterious way when being cuddled. People feel secured, happy and protected. The love and cuddling you give your baby helps establish his/her sense of security. When a baby doesn’t feel safe, it can’t learn.

2. Singing Makes your Baby Smarter

Nursery rhymes, TV jingles or your favourite top 40 hits babies love to hear.

3. Reading a Book

Your baby is never to young to be read to. I wrote an article on the importance “reading to your baby while in the womb”. Talk more of reading to him/her after birth. It is advisable to cuddle up with your baby while reading these books. Even before babies can understand what is being read to them, they will associate reading with cuddling and love. Infants get more attracted to books with more pictures.

4. Make Good Eye Contact

Making good eye contact with infants help build a good memory of facial expression. Babies recognize their parent’s faces and every time he stares at you he is building his memory and learning how to stay safe.

5. Count Aloud

When you wash your baby’s hands and feet in the tub, count his fingers and toes aloud. Count his/her toys with him/her. With time your baby begins to have a love for numbers, every parent wishes his/her baby to have a love for arithmetic. Doing this at an early stage would build a baby with an outstanding IQ.

6. Point Your Finger

Researches have shown that children learn languages faster if you point to an object while saying the name or a word.

7. Turn Off the TV

The American Academy of Pediatrics says children should not be exposed to any screen time before the age of 18 months, says Yson-Zaragoza, a pediatrician with Southern Orange County Pediatric Association. Also added that those type of non-interactive viewing situations can be harmful to a baby’s language development.

Interact with your baby before he/she is 18 months, after they have clocked 18 months you can view screen activities, and make sure you view it with them, talk about what you are seeing.

8. Respond to Your Baby’s Needs

When a baby cries, she is communicating a need for something like comfort, food or a diaper change. When you respond to his/her cries, she is learning that you can be depended on. Responding to your baby’s needs doesn’t mean you are spoiling your baby.

9. Tickle His Toes.

Playing games like ”this little piggy” with his toes teaches him to anticipate events.
