It was his Grandfather not his Uncle, and the 71year old man Rasheed Adebayo, has been arrested by the police, after torturing his grandson, Fuad Badmus, in the Oko-Oba, Agege area of Lagos State.

The boy an 18-year-old was staying with his maternal grandfather on a holiday visit.

Adebayo was alleged to have flogged his grandson with a cane for allegedly stealing N1,000, inflicting injuries all over his body on Saturday, August 11, 2018.
Pictures of the victim, which had gone viral on the social media, drew a lot of reactions from Nigerians, who condemned the brutality.

However, the suspect was wrongly presumed to be Badmus’ uncle.

A Facebook user, Misheck Mutantabowa said the teenager’s offence was not commensurate with the punishment.

An Instagram user @nenyewest, described the flogging as a “pure act of wickedness.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that the case would be charged to court at the completion of investigation.

Maybe i am old school....

But stealing was seriously frowned upon in my era.

If it's belt/cane it was fully accepted it is when you start using pressing iron or pouring boiling water that it becomes Gestapo torture.

There are better ways of correcting a child, but old school Grandpa felt N1000 theft can make him graduate to bigger things.

The beating was excessive but Grand-dad probably meant well
