Calabar—The Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS,  has shut Tinapa business /leisure resort as well as Marina Resort both in the heart of Calabar, Cross River State,  over alleged non-payment of tax by both organisations.

The closure, which started on Tuesday, has paralyzed activities in both resorts which serve as the biggest hospitality and tourism spots in Calabar, thereby leaving fun seekers, tourists and visitors alike stranded.

Vanguard gathered that FIRS officials entered the premises of the business resorts with heavily armed security men and sealed off their main offices.

Marina is functioning fully na unlike tinapa.i wonder why they cant pay tax.i thought the two resorts are tax exempted.anyway,you can still visit obudu ranch

Tourism in Nigeria, Calabar precisely is quite limited to December-January periods.

Marina resort for one doesnt seem to have much tourists as compared to 6years back i lived there to april this year i was there.

Tinapa is the most annoying of them all. With items on sold at dollar rates in our Dear Nigeria i dont get it one bit

Which Summer? In Nigeria, we have just two seasons

Don't be deceived if you're outside calabar. Tinapa is a 'dead on arrival project'. It has never worked.

Our governors are vision less. They constantly embark on 'white elephant projects just to enrich themselves and
put the whole state in perpetual indebtedness.

Tinapa cannot see the light of the day unless calabar sea port is functional. As I speak, NO container vessel comes to calabar
sea port, ONLY petroleum products vessels. The goods that come to Calabar come in by road from Lagos, that's why
things are very very expensive in Calabar. Now tell me, how it work when it is viewed as a heavy commercial hub for
Calabar and its environs. Nigerian government has NEVER allowed anything to work in the south.

You don't climb the ladder from the top. The sea port should been taken care of first.
