If I were on a road trip with only enough time to play just two of my favorite ever Reggae tunes, my choices would be the Morgan Heritage family delivering this Otis Redding inspired tune called "She's Still Loving Me", and a vintage clip of a youthful Bob Marley, singing his hit "Concrete Jungle", with Peter Tosh holding down on lead guitar, Aston "Family Man" Barret presiding on bass guitar, and Bunny Wailer rocking out in the percussion and backing harmonies department.

Reggae rises to a new level when the vocalist delivers those lines with real soul. Check this out, and watch how your shoe gets to tappin'n and your head gets to bobbin' up and down as you listen, no matter how you try to resist the music.

Taking the scenic route back, along Coastal Highway 101, instead of Interstate 5, for example, leaves more quality time to play yet more reggae tunes designed to balance the ambient karma, as you partake of some Cali Orange Bud.

This is my favorite version of Concrete Jungle. Peter had a unique way of strumming the guitar.

Family Man Barrett holding down the bass line.

Carly Barrett on the drums. You'll never find a better reggae drummer in my opinion.

Gramps Morgan with his very unique voice on the verse two of She's Still Loving Me. Sweet!

Thanks for checking out the Reggae legends Sholakanye. Youtube is indeed a God-send for connoisseurs of classic hits from days gone by, and even for modern-day music fans, because live footage of amazing performances is stored there, just one mouse-click away, to enjoy literally for the rest of all time.

For some reason this particular performance of Bob Marley's Concerte Jungle is my hands-down, all-time favorite video clip of the original Wailers laying down the groove. This is one time-capsule that I revisit constantly, when an infusion of Reggae is needed to lift me high.

You're welcome man.

The more popular version with bass line slightly altered and riddim altered was done to make it more attractive to the English audience as Bob was just being introduced to them at that time.
The guitar solo was also re-recorded.

Bunny Wailer passed onto the Great Stage in the Sky, leaving this world just a three days ago, on March 2nd 2021, aged 73.

Here is my favorite tune by the great Bunny Wailer, called "The Blackheart Man". Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer, were the legendary founders of "The Wailers", and now, with the passing of Bunny Wailer, the trinity of Reggae Royalty, are finally united where the music never stops.

Casting our minds back over the archives of Reggae music, here once again are the Wailers, singing that classic song called " Stir it Up", featuring Bob Marley on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Peter Tosh skankin' it on lead guitar, while Bunny Wailer harmonizes vocally while tapping out percussion.

Good to see that many practitioners of old-school reggae still produce works that bring to mind past legends like the Wailers, Burning Spear, Toots and the Maytals, among others.

Mike Love lives in beautiful Hawaii. He looks the part of a born Rasta song-weaver by trade, but he does "walk the walk". All alone with just his guitar and sound-loop tools, Mike Love conjures up some dreamy pulsating vibes that free one's mind to wander the cosmos, astride that timeless syncopated Reggae heartbeat that simply FORCES listeners to nod their heads in obedience to the music's compelling story.

Musical genius is lurking throughout the youtube archives, and today I discovered for the first time Reggae singer Clinton Fearon, whose catchy politically inspired lyrics, superb singing voice, and amazing backup band comprising mostly white musicians, all add up to music that FORCES you to sway in your seat, or rock on your feet, while baling a spleef mon.

Check it out, and if it don't make you move, I'll have a medical team visit your home to check on your health.

Youtube hides myriad musical treasures that can only be uncovered when one takes the time to explore. I just stumbled on a Reggae singer called Droop Lion , whose gravelly voice and freeform lyrics are special instruments in their own right. Here Droop Lion collaborates with Israel Vibration to craft an inspirational song about overcoming adversity.

The odd thing about Droop Lion's performance on this song, is that I looked over several other songs he posted on Youtube, and didn't really like them anywhere near as much as this particular collaboration. Music is mysterious in that way. The same person can sing two different songs, such that one can raise goose-bumps on a listener's skin, while the other creates no such resonance.

Time for another update on this topic about reggae music. Just stumbled across a French reggae group that produces some of the sweetest harmonies these ears have ever heard. By including a few plaintive violin passages and those country and western-style vocal harmonies, this band takes reggae into a truly beautiful direction that so resonates with my soul.

Holy chit I never knew that the Big Island of Hawaii boasts of a reggae singer whose voice is pure gold, and whose harmonies atop an infectious groove are guaranteed to fill the dance floor at any party.

J. Boog is a new name to me, but damn this guy got reggae singing skills that are out of this world.

Speaking of vocalists with a truly sublime tone, check out Duane Stephenson.

This last tune brings to mind the late Lucky Dube. Here Duane Stephenson sings of his violent upbringing, and how he rose above it all.

Another reggae offering from Hawaii of all places from a superb tenor singer called Kolohe Kai. Check out the smooth harmonies of this Big Island reggae tune, designed to calm any storm.

Here is the same Hawaiian reggae crooner called Kolohe Kai along with his fellow harmony generators singing in praise of "Ehu Girl, which in Hawaiian slang means a girl who acts all prim and proper in public, but is ever ready to get wild and crazy with her man in private.

The harmonies in this tune melt away all worries and put listeners in a Big Island frame of mind, where the palm trees dance languidly to the tune of a cool ocean breeze on the beach. For linguistic scholars in da house, a correlation will be noted between the Hawaiian word "Ehu" which is used to denote a wild but demure girl, and the Yoruba word "Ehana", which also refers to a state of wildness.

If you listen to this song and do not find yourself swaying in your seat under the ethereal melody's sublime influence, then you must contact your family doctor right away to verify as a matter of urgency if you are still in fact alive.

With reggae, I can tell within the first few bars of any song whether it is going to hit the spot and check all the boxes. The UK reggae band UB-40 has been around a long time, and this is by far one of the greatest hits in their vast catalog going back many years. The original song was first released as a slow ballad about love lost by country music legend Willie Nelson, but frankly, this reggae rendition of the old classic just resonates better with that backbeat that infuses one's very being.
