FIFA (in English) is the Federation of International Football Associations.

Basically, the country Nigeria is not a member of FIFA, rather, it is the NFF (that is, the Nigerian football association) that is a member of FIFA. This is why FIFA refused to meet with Dalung.

The federating associations often meet to make rules that govern FIFA and member associations.

In the late 1990s the federations decided that government interference in the internal affairs of member associations should no longer be tolerated. FIFA also decided that sporting disputes and disputes within their member associations should be referred to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) that was set up by the International Olympic Committee or any other such truly independent courts of arbitration for sports, rather than the civil courts.

easy as ABC...

I have reservations about this rule...how can someone be funding a project and not have a say in its affairs...make FIFA kuku dey pay FAs' bills then.

Then the government should stop funding the NFF. Simple!

FIFA already gives the NFF a lot of money and I personally believe that government has no business funding professional sport.

He doesn't even know that Pinnick played active roles in Ahmad Ahmad and Gianni Infantino's emergence as CAF and FIFA Presidents respectively...Amaju is their guy, nothing that can stop him...little wonder he's bn recognised and given appointments by d 2 bodies.

But to be candid sha, this FIFA rule is absolute thrash...how can u say d various Govts should not have a say in a sport they sponsor with d State's money...so if the Govt of a country budgets and gives their FA about N100billion in a calendar year and d person in d helms of affair in d FA along with his cronies embezzles half of it, d Govt has no power to question how its money was spent? It is crazy.

they can be sue for corruption by EFCC or law enforcement agencies if they are found guilty. they dont have immunity against corruption sir.

Who asked the States to be sponsoring? Our local league can be run with only 10 or 12 professional viable clubs season in season out. We don't need an unwieldy 20 clubs bent on winning at home at all cost because of the fear of losing before their benefactor governor.

That's because they know that they can get free money from the government. This free money from the government is seriously damaging our football. The NFF gets that money whether it performs well or not.

The government has no business paying millionaires in the Super Eagles "winning bonus" and allowances when there are hospitals to fix and schools to fund. Government funding of sports should be restricted to sports development in primary and secondary schools and in tertiary institutions.

Instead, the NFF should make our football attractive and sponsors will come rushing in. The NFF can make enough money from friendly matches, media rights (TV, radio, internet, etc), sponsors, etc to fund its activities if it makes our football attractive.

I remember how sponsors were falling over themselves to sponsor the Nigerian teams in 1996-1998 and how many countries and promoters were willing to pay us to play friendly matches. Note that I don't only mean Nigerian sponsors, because the fact is that the Eagles and Falcons can attract sponsorship from foreign companies if our football is as attractive as it was in 1996-1998. Ditto for our league. If football is like a religion in Nigeria, as you said, then it should have no problem attracting money if our football is developed. The English Premiership makes a lot of money from Nigeria.

The problem is that sponsors would demand accountability and a certain standard from the NFF and so the NFF prefers free money from government. The free money from government should stop!

FIFA just reminded Dalung and Giwa"who is your daddy?".

Pinnick just reminded all parties "who his godfather is" ......Infantino and the full might of FIFA.

When Giwa tries this again, which he will, again, the full might of FIFA will say "jump" and the answer will always be
...." How high sir"
