Chelsea are optimistic they can convince Eden Hazard to sign a new £300,000-per-week deal, as part of a plan to secure the futures of their top stars.

Hazard has held talks over a contract extension but is yet to agree terms.

The Belgian forward was eager to see if Real Madrid or Barcelona would make a concrete offer for him, as he is keen on a switch to one of Spain’s big clubs.

But Chelsea have made clear their intention to keep Hazard, who has just under two years on his current deal.
