Different generations are the cause . I’ll explain.

In Nigeria, we have five generations currently that are still living.

1. Traditionalists or Silent Generation: Born 1945 and before

2. Baby Boomers: Born 1946 to 1964

3. Generation X: Born 1965 to 1980

4. Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1980 to 1995

5. Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 and later

The Silent Generation: These are people who are in their 73 years and 100 years. Their civilization is dead and couldn’t fight the colonial and post colonial problems to secure future generations. Very few had quality Missionary education. They planted the seed of disunity in Nigeria and cause the Nigerian Civil War.

Baby Boomers: These are people between 54 years and 73 years. Their civilization is gradually phasing out. Many benefited from free education and enjoyed Nigeria during the oil boom. Because of this, Baby Boomers evolved their style of civilization (dress-code, hairstyle, religious dogma, etc.) but lost moral values due to mismanagement of excess oil wealth. Unfortunately, they are still leaders of Nigeria and tend not to acknowledge that they destroyed Nigeria. They are the most financially corrupt generation with the best pastors and imams.

Generation X: Born 1965 to 1980. These people are between 38 years and 53 years. Their civilization is overshadowed by the Baby Boomers and other newer generations. They are really angry because the Baby Boomers have refused to let them take up the mantle of leadership. Hence, they see violence, crime and illegality as the way out. They account for the largest number of people in Boko Haram group; Niger Delta Militants; Drug Trafficking; Organized Kidnapping Networks (i.e Evans); and many more. They are the most violent generation with disregard to rule of law.

Millennials or Gen Y: Born 1980 to 1995: These are young people between 23 years and 38 years. Their civilization is termed ‘wild’. They currently control entertainment industry, ICT industry, and even the bad ones like prostitution or pornography industry. They are the most educated of all the generations and do not have regards for morals preached by pastors comprising of Baby Boomers. They engage in cyber crimes, money rituals and occultism. They are the most nefarious generation with little or no remorse for their actions.

Gen Z, iGen, or Centennials: Born 1996 and later: These are very young people between 2 years and 19 years. They are technology savvy. They take more foreign food (i.e Indomie) and take more chocolate than pounded yam with quality soup. They learn very fast and perform activities that dazzle older generations. Their generation may believe in technology than prayers. They are more creative and are concerned about making the world a better place. In the future, they may develop thermonuclear weapons and cause the destruction of the world or use the same as buffer to save the world. But for Nigeria, the Gen Z will cause massive technological revolutions.

It doesn't matter what generation it is, Lugard made a big mistake bringing together in 1914.
