As an African(Nigerian)studying in India, i desire to share certain basic information about running a tertiary education/program in
India, hopefully, you would find it useful.

Firstly, India is a suitable destination to study for an international student. Also, India's vast diversity offers a wide range of options for students interested in just about any course or line of study. India's education system is as vast and diverse as the country's culture, however, living in India is challenging for an international student when certain factors are considered but it is an affordable and rewarding experience.

India's educational system is encompassing, this makes studying in India unique as it gives one access to the country's rapidly growing strides in cutting edge technological advancement, innovative world of pharmaceutical science, dynamic trends in computer studies, politics, modern agricultural sciences to meet up with the world's needs, medical sciences, arts, social sciences and commerce, now one ponders on the question, why not 'study in India?

India has a wide range of options for one to make a viable choice from, her higher educational system has over 570 tertiary institutions across her 29 states and cities, these includes :

42 central universities, which are supervised by India's National Department of Higher Education.
243 state universities, which are run by state governments
53 private universities
and over 160 other institutes of higher learning with the sole aim of impacting the knowledge of modern science and technology into young students. Also, there are tens of thousands of government licensed colleges across India who offer a field of learning for as many as are interested in any know field of learning. From these wide varieties of options, it makes it easy for a student, local or international to make a choice/ choices, regardless of the field of study or interest.

India's education system awards degrees(first degree), masters and doctorate degrees that are recognized for quality worldwide.

Here in India, an intending international student need not bother over finishing a particular course at its stipulated time as ugly events like union strikes or unrest do not arise.

Living in India

From a personal experience, i would say most Indians are friendly and willing to learn more about different people and different places, this adds to innumerable tourist sites scattered across the country. Yet, a visitor/ international student would find things in India readily affordable.

on top of all that India has to offer, it is easy to choose India as your destination for study. India's vast and colourful rail network puts visitors in touch with every part of its vast landmass and people, frankly its transport system is arguably the cheapest in the world as it costs really low to travel very long distances, this is especially visible with India's rail network.

Food in India is not only available in a very wide variety, they are also exotic as you must already know that India is a home of spices, so wherever one finds oneself in India, foods in good restaurants are considerably cheap as, they can go for about $2 or less.

Tuition fees are considerably lower here in India as only very few courses can cost as much as $2000, most other regular courses cost considerably less. However in certain premiere universities, the cost could go a bit higher especially in certain high-end or technical courses.

Accomodation in India, will depend on ones choice or taste, comfortable rented apartments can go for around $80- $100 dollar per month in the hearts of major or big cities, however this could go up to about $200, depending on choice, however, when placed side by side with its equivalent in Europe, Canada or the US, one could see, India is considerably cheaper.
