I Am Afraid Of 2019 Election; Let’s Pray For A Peaceful Election – Ekweremadu by anjowaka510(m): 4:47pm On Aug 22, 2018
Worried by the dismal state of the country’s political system, the deputy senate president Dr, Ike Ekweremadu on Wednesday urged Nigerians to pray for a peaceful conduct of the forthcomingEkweremadu who disclosed this in his Sallah message to Muslim faithfuls, opined that elections conducted this year were gravely marred by excessive violence, vote buying, and other outrageous manipulations that threaten the nations democracy.
His full statement reads:
EID-EL KABIR: LET’S PRAY FOR A PEACEFUL 2019
I felicitate with the Nigerian Muslim Umah on the occasion of the 2018 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
I call on all Muslim faithful to emulate Prophet Ibrahim’s life of total obedience, love, justice, and self-sacrifice, which are the hallmarks of Eid-el-Kabir. We must all imbibe these virtues in order to move Nigeria forward to the Promised Land.
The Eid-el-Kabir also presents yet another opportunity for the Muslim Umah and indeed all Nigerians to reflect soberly on state of the nation and pray for Nigeria’s future and peaceful elections.
Nigeria is certainly in need of both attitudinal change and divine intervention as the country prepares for the 2019 general elections.
Whereas the extensive electoral reforms carried out by the National Assembly manifested in visible improvements in the quality of the 2011 and 2015 general elections, subsequent elections have been gravely marred by excessive violence, vote buying, and other outrageous manipulations that threaten our democracy.
From the Bayelsa Governorship election to the recent bye-elections in Kogi and Rivers States, among others, the nation has witnessed intolerable levels of impunity, violence, excessive abuse and manipulation of vital institutions of democracy, which signal grave turbulence ahead of 2019.
Wishing you all a happy Sallahcelebration.

The only threat to next years election as at today is the refusal of the national assembly to reconvene and pass the election budget. Ekweremadu should tell his side kick, Bukola Saraki to reconvene and allow lawmakers consider and pass INEC budget. That is the only way to eliminate the threat to next years election.

While Dr Jonathan was preaching that his ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian, Buhari was threatening bloodshed if he didn't win.
I however have news for Buhari, you'd be contesting with your fellow Northerner this time. You want blood, be prepared to be engulfed by it.

Inconclusive elections are now being replaced by unprecedented violence and ballot snatching.

Mr Ekweremadu sir....God had already answered our prayers. We have disturbed him enough. God is now telling us to act. Stop making God looking stupid.
As for 2019, Nigerians' buyout clause is so cheap. They will sell their vote to highest bidder and come to Nairaland to read the book of Lamentations.

The manner at which Buhari and the apc running the country is unacceptable. The APC and security agencies now determine who wins elections. Under the Buhari led government we have witnessed a complete disrespect for the rule of law.

So its OK that bubu refused to sign card reader into law. Same electronic vote that made him president. If there are no plans to rig why not sign it.

Even the acclaimed corrupt PDP gave us a credible election what is saint APC afraid of?

There is need for more than just prayer because the proponents of "dog and baboon soaking in blood" are now at the helm of affairs.

YES i wonder why Afonjas chose to vote such a man who uses threat of violence all the time during elections, do they expect an old man to change his life long mentality of killing overnight. I hate this country every passing day and i curse lord luggard for this contraption with these people.

Chronicles of APC blame game...

"16 years of the PDP"

"We are clearing the rot we met on ground"

"Blame Jonathan for our failure"

"PDP members in civil service are padding budget"

"Judiciary is corrupt. We need to invade them"

"Senate is not confirming our nominees"

"Saraki is slowing down our government"

They always have to blame someone for their incompetence.
