The Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDS), is a type of voluntary disclosure programme, a one-time programme with the objective of giving a window to non-compliant taxpayers to regularise their tax position in form of registration, returns and remittance.
A CTLO is a Nigerian graduate trained to raise awareness and educate citizens on the tax system in Nigeria. They are responsible for increasing tax awareness to raise compliance, educate all citizens on the tax system, organising tax outreach to increase the number of tax payers, and finally to enroll new tax payers.
The Tax Liaison Officers were recruited on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Finance by Npower on a 2year fixed term contract. Be that as it may, CTLOs from batches 23 - 36 are being owed 6 months stipend respectively with no hope of payment. CTLOs lamented that several complaints to appropriate quarters have not enjoyed due attention despite having generated billions of Naira to the coffers of the Federal and State Governments.
